Hi,

Our 4 year old son was recently diagnosed with ASD. We want to get trained in ASA therapy to work with him at home.

What is the best way to get trained?

Please help us.

Thank you.

Forgive me, but I'm not sure what ASA therapy is? Do you mean ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis?)

I guess the first question would be what region of the country do you live in? Are you able to travel for training?

Thank you for your response.

Sorry, it was supposed to be ABA therapy. I live in northern Virginia.

I didn't see anything in this forum's recommended clinicians list for Virginia (though several requests) but a quick google search yielded this link: http://www.poac-nova.org/base.cgim?template=aba_vb

Autism Speaks has a state-by-state listing, here's Virginia: http://www.autismspeaks.org/community/f ... =55&cid=48 Practitioners of ABA may be able to direct you to parent training sessions.

Is there anything else you'd like to ask, or learn about? This forum isn't the same as direct intervention, but it does have the advantage of having loads of real-life experience behind it. I usually recommend newcomers read this book:http://www.asdstuff.com/works.html
