I just had to come post about my great week!

My daughter actually got up on stage and spoke one line in the Holiday production at school! This is such a monumental success for her because she has extreme social anxiety and has never been able to do this before. She said she was frightened and felt like she was going to cry and I could tell it was very hard for her but she was proud of herself afterward.

Also, we had an appointment with a new Psychiatrist that I had made 6 months ago. This psych is very well respected. I was a little worried because she stated she was going to disregard the previous diagnoses and re-eval her for her purposes. After the 2 hour re-eval she confirmed the AS diagnosis (which I knew but it's always good to get a validation that the dx was right 2 years ago). The really GREAT thing is this psych took a great interest in my daughter and seems genuinely excited to work with her and stated she feels she can make some progress with dealing with the anxiety. It's so nice when you find a professional that "gets" your situation and wants to help.

Also, my daughter has shown mastery of the entire semester's spelling words and tested out so she gets to have computer time during spelling tests for the 6 weeks after holiday break!

We discuss a lot of struggles here but I also wanted to share these successes with people who get how profound they are!
I am one proud, happy Mama! :)

Oh Mama, I am so happy for you and your daughter! I know how hard it has been for you both and it is so wonderful to hear about her progress :D ! In my experience, nothing breeds success like success so I hope this is true for you guys and that she can build on the great things she has accomplished. What a great gift to enjoy for the holidays!

That's great!

I used to have huge amounts of social anxiety as a child...the closest I ever came to something like this was a non-speaking role.
