Hi,
I found this post in a search and I just had to answer. I have used integrated listening Systems (iLs) for my family. I saw wonderful improvements in my own ADHD and in my children’s Autism, ADHD and SPD. I love the fact that it can be used at home and that it is very flexible. The iPod with bone conduction headphones really helps “feed” the sensory system and it is very relaxing. It comes with a movement and a vocal component.
Thanks to iLs, My son with autism stopped covering his ears in pain. I was able to get my youngest son off medications and was able to control the volume of his voice. I never imagined he would be able to drive, have friends or play on the high school sports teams and thanks to iLs he did. iLs made sooo many life changing improvements in my my family, such as improvements in attention, academics, sensory and auditory processing, sleep, academics, memory, mood, self confidence, balance, etc
I love this program and will never be without my home unit for boosts. I used it with my family for about a year and a half to see such wonderful improvements.
I think it is a wise decision and very cost effective for 2 kids if you get the home unit.
Wishing you all the best,
RG

Hi RG
Thank you for your reply....there are soo many programs out there, so it helps hearing from others and getting their first hand knowledge. I have a couple of other questions and would appreciate any feedback.
You mention having a home unit, do you buy it and own it or is there an annual membership fee?
Can you tell me the cost? Is it per person, or household? Monthly?
Since you do the program at home, did you undergo training? Also, who monitors the results?
We are going to try iLs in the summer, here's hoping we get even half as good results as you did.
Hi,
So glad you asked those questions because you are going to be soooooooooo happy with the answers...well most of them..lol
Question: "You mention having a home unit, do you buy it and own it or is there an annual membership fee?
Answer: You buy it and own it forever! If you buy it right from iLs, then that is all you pay for the whole family to use it. No membership fees or time limits. It can also be done at the office of an OT, SLP, PT, or at school. I bought my unit and had it written into my son with ASD's IEP that they would use the system at school. I was not going to outside therapy when we began using the iLs.
Years ago I paid double the $ for 2 of my kids to do a different program and spent way too much money. By being able to actually buy this unit I was able to use the program until I no longer saw areas that needed to be improved upon (For my son with ADHD & daughter with SPD).
Question: Can you tell me the cost? Is it per person, or household? Monthly?
Answer: Like I said if you buy it right from iLs you only pay $1800 for the iPod with an amp, the headphones that have bone conduction in them and then also the movement piece and all the equipment. (Did I tell you about the movement part that you do at the same time as listening it is flexible and can be used by all levels of functioning?) Plus then iLs gives you a person who is a trained coach to teach you and hold your hand through the whole program for as many people as you like.
Question: Since you do the program at home, did you undergo training? Also, who monitors the results?
Answer: Yes, I actually took the professional class because when I get into something I get into it ALLLL the way. I find my way into a lot of the professional conferences. I did not have to take it but the training was nearby so I did. Your coach would monitor the results through phone calls with you and check lists you fill out. Your coach teaches you how to use the program and lets you know what area's you can expect to see improvement in.
Keep in mind we did it for like a year and a half with breaks in between the programs. What I love the best is that it is not parent abuse. You do it between 3-5 times a week, if one week you can't do as much that is just fine. It is really child friendly. I had to begin my son with ADHD using it while playing video games because he was also ODD at the time. It did not take long until he could feel and see results so he was reminding me to "Hook-Me-Up" !
I still give my kids and myself additional sessions just for a little boost before big tests or sport tryouts that is also why I love having it at home. I see it more as a life tool--the results last but they say growth spurts, or ear infections and antibiotics can cause issues that can be improved upon.
Wishing you all the best,
RG
