Ok so I am filling out an ASEBA evaluation for Ara's Full Circle eval at the end of November, however I am stuck on one question and just dont know what they are asking for. The question is "Does the child spontaneously say words in any language? (not just imitates or understands words)?

My contact person will not be back in her office until Monday or Tuesday and I want to get this last question done so I can get it out in the mail before something happens to it....lol

I would read that as does he or she speak any words without prompting -- mama, dada, cookie, milk, ball, etc. If you have to ask, "Do you want milk?" a response of "milk" isn't spontaneous.

I would agree with zette and I would add that you shouldn't worry too much about having the "right"answer to all of these questions. If your experience is anything like mine, you will fill out dozens of questionnaires over the next few years and will be asked what may seem like the same questions, over and over again. Answer them as best you can but don't feel bad if you think you could have answered certain ones differently.

Thank you so much. We have a phone interview that is suppose to take about an hour or two, since we live 2 hrs away from the Eval clinic. It sounds like the same eval interview we just did for our in home speech/other therapy......our cell phone bill is going to be huge this month. I am just really happy that by the end of November we will have a plan for help and maybe even a diagnosis.
