school library grant?
My son has been referred to a day treatment school. His first question was, "If I go to this school, will I still be able to go to college?" He's very motivated academically.
His new school basically doesn't have a library. This is a kid who, after school, then 3 hours of therapy, will read 2 complete novels before he goes to bed. By far, the lack of stuff to read is the biggest hurdle he's going to have with this new placement.
Does anyone know about any grants for building a school library? I only know about this place because of my son, but all the kids who go there deserve to have good books to read.
Thank you for your help!
I've never heard of a grant to build a library.
I can think of a couple things to do:
1.) Make a trip to the public library a weekly event. It sounds like something he enjoys, so maybe go on Fridays as a reward for working hard at school.
2.) Talk to the school to see if they have a space and then see if you can organize a book drive to create a little library in the school or even just a classroom library.
