If your child has echolalia, what's the most impressive/weird/funny feat of echolalia he or she has managed to perform?

When my son was 9 months old, he'd rattle off long sections of songs--pitch perfect and totally clear--better enunciation than the singer, often. I didn't realize at the time that this was a bad thing, just strange and amazing.

My daughter's echolalia was always just the garden-variety kind. She did spend quite some time communicating rather effectively while relying almost exclusively on scripts, however. And the interesting thing was that I could often tell where she was scripting from (TV, real person, etc), because her tone and inflection was so spot on. I don't even know if other people could actually tell most of what she was saying was scripted.

She still does this to some extent. She often scripts off of me, which makes her sound super intelligent and insightful as a 7 year old! LOL!

My daughter is the same way. She is 5 years old now (aspie). Last week at OT they were making a thankful tree. They asked her what she was thankful for and in a sing song gentle voice she said, "I am thankful for the joy in my heart, the love of my family and for peace in our lives." Everyone was so amazed by this response and talking about how brilliant she is. I knew by her voice and by the way she could repeat the same words to everyone who asked her that it was scripted from somewhere. On Thanksgiving morning I had the radio on and I heard the same words in the same sing song gentle voice during a radio promo. :D

The echolalia has also been amazing for impressive spelling words. I try not to do too many with her because she isn't actually "spelling" rather repeating the letters but it's been fun hearing a 4 year old spell words like "recycle" and "piano". She also used to sit and rattle off the planets from the solar system in order and she can repeat entire books that we have read to her, but if we stumble on a word the first time, she stumbles on the same word when she "reads" the book.

My DD5 freaked me out once by quoting from a cartoon, nothing unusual about that as she does it all the time but I was in the process of switching the tv on for her and it came on to the kids channel, on that particular cartoon, the same episode and the actual part of that episode where the character said that quote just seconds after she had said it in the exact same way it was said on the cartoon.....! ! 8O 8O 8O Psychic or incredible coincidence lol?!

Or a prime example of the insane number of times some of the kids channels repeat the same episode over and over again! :D
