I'm a nineteen year old female college student with AS (Not officially diagnosed due to the expense of testing), and lately my peculiar habits have been causing my mother and I to "butt heads". I never tried to hide behind these traits, however I am becoming increasingly more frustrated with the fact that my mother and the rest of my family do not understand me or my tendencies. I do not want these issues to become worse, do you have any suggestions in regards to books, websites, etc. that it might be helpful for my parents (and possibly even me) to read so that we can have constructive discussions when problems arise rather than aggressive arguments that lead to my having meltdowns?

This cartoon intro, written by someone here at WrongPlanet, would be a humorous, positive start:

It's also available as a book for $5.99 from his website.

The book Asperger's Syndrome, by Tony Attwood would be more in depth and would go into some of the areas of difficulty.

I will try showing them these. The cartoon is fantastic "Once I learned what Asperger’s is, I knew it described me. It answered a lot of questions and explained why I am the way I am. So it was kind of good news! Like finding a box I fit in." - this is how I felt once I learned about Asperger's and found this site, finally I can communicate with people who understand!
