Receptive language delay but not expressive

this was the result of my son's language assessment.
Just wondering what parents experience is with this? Obviously we will continue with ongoing speech therapy but is this something that corrects itself with time? His first couple of weeks of primary school have shown (to me) that there are holes in his executive functioning and I am assuming there is a connection.
edit - I thought I posted this yesterday but can't find a post so apologies if this is a repeat..
