The specialist from ESS who is working with my son's team at school called me yesterday with some great positive news!

My son had been talking about his frustrations and said that he realized that both his perfectionism and his catastrophizing were, in his words, "ridiculous!"

He had a good laugh at himself for one of his hypercritical reactions!

It took me until well into my 30s to discover what he is seeing as he approaches 12... I am so happy for him.

I would like to think that it helped when I calmed him down a bit the other day, then told him about some of my similar problems and showed him part of Tony Attwood's book... In any case, this is his triumph, not mine. I am so proud of him! :D :D :D

Definitely good news. Milestones like this will make quite a difference.

Thanks! :D

And I am happy to say we have four straight days of getting to school on time and getting everything done when it should be.

:D

Starting Middle School was pretty scary, but now I am so happy we are there.
