I finally got the school to realize my son at least needs to be evaluated for Spec Ed services. I also requested an Autism Evaluation. They have a multidisciplinary team that will come out to the school for the evaluation. His Assistant Principal is finally taking notice of the red flags of ASD. He spent last friday in "in school suspension" and he LOVED it. He was alone and it was not distracting.
I signed the papers for the eval on 9-25. They have 45 school days to complete their testing. I am so ready for this to be done so that maybe he will get the help he needs.

If I only had a dollar for everyone who told me my son CANT be on the spectrum cause he is too friendly, and makes eye contact, etc...Id probably be able to take a nice vacation right now...even professionals can be ignorant.

YES he is extremely friendly, especially to adults and people doing what he wants! And he is so friendly he doesn't get when its NOT ok to be so friendly. He will smile and hug just bout anyone, anywhere. He finally stopped hugging kids randomly, but that was a huge issue when he was younger. He would also follow around kids who he wanted to play with who were being mean to him, or ignoring him, etc...

And I guess cause he talks so well, and is so intelligent. he can talk and talk and talk, and he has so much to share, he charms professionals, they are always delighted with him. He con go n these talking sprees when he rambles on and on and doesn't check to see if anyone is listening, doesn't pause or wait for input, just keeps on talking and talking.

I am glad he is so smart and charming and friendly. He is, and he has autism. My answer to most now who question his diagnosis, is LIVE WITH HIM.
