Sorry if this topic has been posted before

Need some advice urgently about my 14 year old aspie - he has just got all the Christmas exam results and failed every one of them. He (and we) spent hours revising and studying for them, he has a separate classroom to do them in and extra time, his returned papers show really poor answers and blanks to ones he should find no problem. He even has a prompter so we don't know what else to do. When he studies he finds it really difficult to retain information but this is really upsetting him and us, could concerta for his ADD be clouding his recall? Teachers tell me he is really bright in class normally - Am really worried about how best to help him. Is this normal? Any strategies that might help us get through???
Thanks Folks

Ooh reading about Concerta gave me shivers. I had the same thing when I was taking concerta. Normally my memory works very "triggery" and during exams, even if I initially didn't know an answer but "knew it's in there somewhere", it would come to me after a while of "day dreaming". With Concerta I just found myself repeating the question over and over in my mind, and it not going anywhere.

I've tried Ritalin, Concerta and Strattera, and I found them all to ruin how I was used that my brain/mind works. Now I just smoke some weed every now and then.

I am wondering if he would do better with someone asking him the questions for the test and him verbally giving the answers? I know that both of my girls struggle with the simple act of writing if they have to do it for more than about 10 minutes.

We also have tried concerta, and many other ADHD drugs - non of them did anything but cause more problems.
