It's climbing, hiking, swiming, white water rafting, tubing, and maybe horses. I'm not worried about the "sports" part. I'm concerned about the social skills training and whether or not I am enrolling him in a reputable place with trained staff.

It can be a good thing to try out.
How do you define extreme sports. A 10y girl playing in a 15y male soccer team. Or somebody that was invited to outside climbing at age 7? I hate sports. They don't give me anything. My 10y daughter can with no problem hang in one finger when climbing trail on a 10m wall asking for instructions from the instructors. So that's why the instructors have allowed bouldering for her, as well as outside routes. She's climbing adult trails. I myself would NEVER put my feets on those trails! Maybe with a wnch!
For the socker team the goalies have learnt to dodge, because they either get hurt or rumbles backwards. But it's a little more akward to hang in one finger with a weight of almost 40 kilos.
I'm sure you have seen a climbing wall. Loads of grips in various shapes molded in concrete. Imagine a 10y holding a grip, putting her foot on THAT grip, then grapping a grip 2 meter above. Speedclimbing is just the preface. She can hold a grip point on one finger. I would need four hands. Just to get adrenaline pumping out of the body there's several ways.
