Do IEP's for ADHD and Asperger's differ very much being that the symptoms overlap so much?

The truth is, there should be no one size fits all IEP for any condition so it does not matter if things overlap or not. The IEP should be tailored to the students individual needs for a proper education. We seem to forget what the I stands for in IEP.

I've heard it can be harder to get an IEP for ADHD -- schools want to give a 504 instead. Kids with Aspergers are more likely to qualify for speech and OT, so once you have the IEP eligibility, it's easier to get additional goals tacked on.

Most likely, you'd see many of the same accommodations used for both conditions.

DD just had an IEP for autism, and after evaluation I was told that she is symptomatic for significant ADHD, and most of her accomodations centered around the attention deficit. The plan might differ, but the evaluation should not.
