I'm trying to research a little bit about posturing (Both for myself and a friend that has asked the following question) in young children because I have a friend who has a little 2 year old girl that "does this thing while she's eating (or doing anything where she has to concentrate hard and using one hand) where the hand she's not using will be curled under. Like she makes a fist and looks really weird."
I know that my two year old doesn't do this particular thing. My two year old does the toe walking and arm flapping but I know that is pretty normal for her age so what I am wondering is, how can you tell what is normal for a kid's age (especially 3 and under) and what may be a sign of something neurological.

My oldest daughter (she is 6) does this and so do I but it's not as bad as what she seems to be describing and I am not sure if it is just a mannerism in our case so I wasn't able to help her out with this question.
I am also curious as well. Does anyone have any links or pictures or anything that goes into this aspect of autism (or something relating to posturing) in more detail?

Am I making sense?

Thanks ahead of time.

From what I understand, it's more hand-flapping and other stims that would be more of a concern than just holding a hand in certain way.

My 4 y/o hand flaps with his unoccupied hand when eating, drawing, while watching TV, anything not requiring both hands.
