I find the quotes and visuals on the sides of each personal poster so incredibly distracting. It has actually deterred me from posting more often.

To see the same visual and read the same quote over and over again gets to me. I can't seem to focus on the writing. My eyes are drawn, repeatedly, to the visuals/quote. I keep thinking the quote is part of the response! UGH.

Anyone else feel the same? Maybe I have undiagnosed ADD.

take care,

equinn

Avatars don't bother me, emoticons don't bother me, sometimes the signatures bother me. Especially those meant to convey some kind of "literacy by association". You know, quoting Mark Twain or Einstein to look smart or witty. Quotes out of context bore me.
I frequent a different board where some people have very long signatures or very politically charged ones. Some people change them during a "conversation", in essence saying something in their signature and pretending it's not directed at anyone. Real childish antics.

Generally this is one of the easiest sites for me to read. HOWEVER - there have been a couple of flashing ads and avatars and they were visually very distracting. And I turn the sound off because there was an ad before that would make a noise and freak me out every time.

Most of the posts are not that bad. It is better if the Quote is in a white text box, you could probably run it right off the page by scrolling down with the side bar. It does sound like ADD though.

Some forums are unreadable, this one is pretty tame. As for the ads, well, something has to pay for this site, I imagine that running a site with over 10,000 members can't be cheap, I know a woman who has a guinea pig site with may be only a 1/4 of this traffic, and it costs her a small fortune to keep running!

The ads don't bother me - just the flashing ones which are probably not the best choice for some people with sensory issues and some with seizure problems. That is not something that WP has any control over - but something that advertisers could be considerate about overall.

Thiers more to ADD than getting distracted by avaters and such on a site.

If you do have ADD you would always feel like an underachiever, you will often space out when you are in a multipul conversation, you will get infocrush if your given more than 3 or 4 instructions at once, you will have no goals in live because you dont believe that you can achieve them.

If you show these, then you probably have ADD

I know ADD or ADHD can get that bad, however I don't think you have to be that bad off to have it... :?
I know plenty of people who have ADD / ADHD and they have "goals". Although it is a struggle for them to stay on track to the goal, and often they fall short. I would not say they are "lacking goals" due to low self esteem though...
