I think us on the Spectrum perceive this a lot more than average.
For example, I remember some enrichment art class as a kid, there's all this loud talking. Some kid is talking with me in maybe a friendly / maybe quasi bullying way. And then they're slow starting the class for 10 long minutes.
And the guy kind of insists on over quiet while he's teaching.
From their perspective, no big deal. Alright, a little slow getting the class started, but it's a casual enrichment class anyway.
From my perspective, putting up with major sensory issues, and then trying to negotiate a very uncertain social environment. I'm almost worn out before the class actually starts. And I often had the feeling that authority had discredited itself, and that's probably unfair.
An easy workaround may be targeting getting there from 2 minutes early to 3 minutes 'late,' which is probably not going to be late at all!
