Hi all,

I am a professional that has been working with children with autism for 8 years and counting. I am looking to open a daycare designed specifically for children with autism. I want to open a place that has 13-17 kiddos so they receive the attention they deserve. I plan on accepting all therapies to come in to provide to the child. I really want the center to be a place where there is a great deal of knowledge of autism and where we implement strategies to better assist your child with daily life. This is where you all, the parents, come in! I would love to have parents' input of what they would like to see within a center. Would you want full-time, part-time, or both offered. How much would you pay per month? This is a HUGE dream of mine and looking for it to become a reality. I want to do my research before I take the time and money to invest and create something that parents may not like or want. Any response would be greatly appreciated! I hope to hear from you all!

There is a place here in our area that sounds similar to what your concept is. It's called REACH, in Flemington NJ 08822, and it was started by a parent who wanted kids with ASD and other disabilities to be able to receive what they need. She does a huge amount of fundraising so that much of the therapy is free or reduced cost. She found a preschool that is closing this year, and she rents it while running preschool groups and specialty groups there.
Go to: reacheducationalservices.com to get a better idea of how it is done here. Hopefully this will give you even more ideas.
