I could use some new approaches on the latest behavior in my little man (2 1/2). He is doing alot of spitting lately and making spit puddles on the table, the floor, anywhere he decides. I have tried all the usual things to stop an unwanted behavior but nothing works. I make him clean it up and he usually does this happily, but then he will make a new one. It's just gross. Any idea what might be driving this behavior, so I can try a substitute for the input he gets from this?

My 2 1/2 year old is doing this too! (Acutally 3 next month).

He saw the movie Madagascar where they spit sea water out at "marty's Casa" on the island, and thinks it is hillarious!

I don't have any advice for you, but I suggest you don't let him see that movie!

my 5 year old does this in class at school! He's always in trouble for it-every week I'm having to sign a paper for a behavioral note from the teacher explaining he was spitting. He also spits on people he considers to be his friend for some reason. So far it seems to be an impulse thing-if nothing is going on, he does it because he is bored-he also does it when he gets too excited and is playing with someone. He never has a reason as to why, and doesn't understand that spitting on someone is a quick/good way to lose a friend :(

No advice on what to do though. BTW, mine hasn't seen Madagascar, lol-he does it in every setting/situation he's in commonly... so very interested to be watching for responses on this :)

My son just last night claimed to have "cleaned" his whole wall in his room-he was spitting on his hand and smearing it all over the wall. No wonder he was so quiet for so long... lol.
