hi im new to this site. i have ten year old twins a boy and girl my little boy has been diagnosed with autism , adhd and learing difficultys also. my little girl is fine.
since brads started school he has had trouble from the begining i have been in to school that many times trying to get more help but all they would say is that he is getting all the help we can give him. the amount of times i have sat there crying in the heads office because i was that frustrated that there was nothing i could do to make his school day any better or get him the education he deserved.
anyway when brad was 8 he was diagnosed with autism and learning difficulty he has dyslexia and for his reading and writing his age is at 6 years.
he still continued getting in troble at school for things which he really couldnt help like not being able to sit still, not concentrating for long and loosing his temper cause he couldnt do things . in my oppinion he was being seen as a naughty child and always getting told he was one.
it came to a head at school during one lesson he was told that because of his behaviour he would no longer be able to do this i questioned this and found out that he was only taking to some other boys and they never got told thay couldnt go. i think they just didnt want him doing the lession cause he has problems . so i took him out of school and said he wasnt going to go back untill bradley got the help he needed
this took them a month to put everything in place and now with all the help he is getting ( which is a lot ) he is fianally doing better
when brads was nine he was diagnosed with adhd and now take ritalin since taking this he has become a much calmer person he can concentrate longer and he is acctually enjoying doing things its a pleasure to watch him breaking his bike and fixing it as he could never concentrate long enough before.
sorry bout the spelling and grammer i have dyslexia too

I don't like the thought of long-term meds - but when my AS + ADHD son was first put on Concerta, it was like night and day - he's much better with the meds, and he even told us that his brain felt clearer.
