I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all who have posted here. I am fairly new to this board and the autistic world so to speak. I have gained a huge insight into my little boy from all your posts. You all seem to be living in my house and know my child as well as I do (maybe even a little better). I always knew my boy was a little eccentric or different from other boys his age, I wouldnt change him for anything in the world. I now have an understanding of why he may be doing what he does. I also want you to know that when he is upset and feels different to the other kids his age your posts have helped him, knowing that he isn't the only one struggling with friends and being made to feel different. ( I am waffling so sorry.) I just wish you all lived next door. Again a huge huge thank you.! !!

How old is your son?

I have 2 sons who post on WP. AussieBoy is 9 and UbbyUbbyUbby is 7.

Perhaps if you get your son his own username he could post on WP and chat with my sons.

I know how you feel about being thankful for WP. It has saved my sanity and taught me so much.

Regards
Helen

hey aurea, yeah get your boy to setup a forum account here. it will help him greatly. i just wanted to say i'm 27 and have aspergers, so your boy can have a good life, no matter what anyone says :0) it can happen, if it happened to all of us it can happen for him. Just so you know most people with aspergers or autism do have anxiety disorders/PTSD/ (panic attacks) along with there aspergers. best thing i can tell you is to have your child to do homeschooling and or just give him extra love when something bad happens, like family member dying. cause pretty much i went overboard and didnt have alot of family support when my uncle passed away, and grandma almost dying. also if possible get an IEP setup at your school, and make sure that they actually go with it. cause it's what helped me get support 22 yrs later... . you should get more help then i did, cause pretty much to late for people in there 20s and above who have aspergers, cause aspergers only has been known for about 10 yrs or so.

Helen, my son is 6 (7 in December) and he posts on the Dinosaur game in Kids Crater, but he does it under my name, we just add Caleb to the bottom of the post so anyone who reads it knows it is him and not me. He is wanting someone to play the game with.

oh, I just checked it and the thread was started by your UbbyUbbyUbby! :)

Am wondering what your experiences are with Australian primary schools and an AS diagnoses. How much help are your kids getting. Mine isnt really getting any yet.

aurea, well are in in the US or UK, i'm in the US, and really not getting any help as it is, even at 27. had to wait 2 years to even get on medicare(still have to wait about 3 months) ow before i even if qualified.. i am on ssd now. but i strongely suggest that you get your children a iep at school, it's the only way i got on social security disability.( at 26 yrs old, a year ago) try to find a nerologist and or someone who knows what ADD/ADHD is. it's a big symptom of people who have aspergers. depression/anxiety, etc. most people i'v noticed end up as asperger are people who have been left behind by the school system, divorce, child abuse, etc and in general. its not cause of parenting or anything, but most of us are sensitive to crowds/sounds etc.
