Who has been teased because you were acting strangely?

I have Asperger's Syndrome and I do some pretty weird things. I often get strange looks namely by Neurotypicals when I do my ccrazy stunts like hop with both feet together across the room in Latin just because I can and hey, it's a bit more livlier than walking. Has anyone been through something like that?
I've been teased a lot over the last many years and I was wonderimg if anyone else goes through it a lot like I do. I'm pretty clueless about things like popular culture so I often ask who/what is that because I never pay attention to such stuff simply because it doen't interest me. I just don't see the point.
I'm still wondering what makes the NT's mind want to pick on the people the most different from them. Can't they just leave us alone and ignore us if they think we're weird or just plain crazy? If any NT's are reading this, I say GOOD FOR YOU!! !! I like how you're trying to understand people like us and if people would show as much kindness as you and even pay a little less attention to what they think is akward, then the world would definately be a much nicer and kinder place.
By the way, I was diagnosed when I was 11, just before starting 6th grade. Does anyone know when most people are diagnosed or is it all random? -PowerGirl

I think maybe this is in the wrong forum section and belongs in general autism discussion?
This is forum for parents to talk about their Autistic/Aspie children.

Yeah, I've been teased. Mainly for saying 'strange' things instead of doing them. I don't know about Popculture either, but that's not a big difficulty for me. My main annoyance is because people think I act so odd they find it amusing to use me as a tool to bother and make fun of others. At least once a month someone trys to tell me that *insert random person here* wants to go out with me. I've never believed them and I've never been wrong yet. It does embarrass me, though, but I think I have a pretty good poker face. Considering all of my inappropriate and odd expressions no one can ever really tell what I think.

My advice is to not worry about them and stick close to the people who are nice to you. :) That's the strategy I'm using to try and find the 'special one' who will be able to be best/really good friends with me.

I don't know when people are typically diagnosed, but I was when I was almost 14.
