I dropped my son off at school yesterday ( we're in Australia so it was Monday) He was late because we'd had our peadiatrician appointment. I told his teacher why we were late, she asked how I was doing, I said I was tired and a little stressed over all these appointments, I informed her that J would be late to school on Wednesday as well ( she rolled her eyes and asked why) the speech therapist wants to continue her part of the evaluation.
Then I told her he would be late the following Monday because he had the OT ( I cant change this time because the OT only works twice a week and she has other long standing appointments) And He also has an appointment on the Tuesday the 27th with a surgical registrar for another issue ( Tuesday the 27th is his b"day so I may not even bring him in) She said yes dont bother. Again with the eye rolling. She then tells my son that its nearly time to go out to play so he may aswell go sit with the girls and read a book till the bell goes, J gets very indignat ( cant spell) and says" but I'm not a girl" She tells him to go pick a book and sit with them. ( did she not pick up on his literal interprutation? Ah thats right according to her there is nothing wrong with him.) As I was walking out the door she says to me " see what happens when you start looking for things" I know she is referring to J's evaluation and all his doctors appointments. I didn't respond it's not worth it, not yet anyway. I just wish this evaluation would be over and the recommendations in. J's peadiatrician (who isn't part of the evaluation team, but reffered us for the screening) says that he would recommend one on one trainning for J. I told him the school were going to fight it, he said they can't. I hope he is right.
Sorry this post is so long, I had to get it off my chest. At the moment this board = my sanity. lol

Sounds like you need a different teacher. How old is your son?

J will be 9 on the 27th of this month.

No chance at this stage of a new teacher, we're in oz so nearly at the end of the school year. Hopefully evaluation results and recommendations will be in soon, then I will have something concret in black and white in which I can argue with. :x

aurea, Iremember the long process of getting a dx, it can be very stressful and exhausting. Try to take some time for yourself (mauling teachers can be very relaxing  ) Good luck with the process.

Hi aurea,

how are things going with that horrible teacher? Have you found out who is going to be your son's teacher next year? Are you thinking of changing schools? I checked out a school near us and really liked it.

How's the dx going? Hard times, isn't it.
