so, we recertified for foster care and that was all finalized a few weeks ago. We previously adopted our 4 and 5 y/o through foster care. We got a call today and a social worker is inquiring about us- if we'd be interested in a 6 month old baby boy. He's about one month behind developmentally- had an eval last month- big whoop. There's no prenatal drug or alcohol use, but mother is mentally ill and father has autism- both live in a care facility which is why they do not have custody of the baby. This boy is a happy, healthy, social, receptive, normal kid according to current foster mom, just a little bit behind developmentally. We're going for it. He was most likely passed up over the past few months due to the parental history and people being scared of the autism and mental illness- schitzophrenia. :(

So, it appears that in a few weeks we will most likely have 4 children. 1 AS, 1 MMR(mild mental retardation), one very spirited but definitely not learning disabled NT, and who knows what the future holds for our new baby. We should know within a few days if he's ours for sure. I'll keep y'all posted. Funny. If this all pans out, we'll have one of each sex of each color. LOL! My adopted daughter and son are African American.

Well it'd be something to look into if you're children were born African American.
