Back handed school compliance
Hi all!! !
School finishes here for the year(Melbourne Australia) in two days.
I had asked the vice principle at my sons school to please let me know as soon as possible what teacher and classroom he would be in for grade 3, I asked her when I told her what his diagnoses was.
She was a real cow and didn't see the reason he should know any sooner than usual (the last day of school for the year).
Well I can be a cow to and I sicked my sons evaluating team on to her. She called me yesterday to give me the news, but then went on to say she still doesn't see what difference it will make, yeah maybe because she also told me that if I tell him and he tells anyone else, it will never happen again. Thank goodness J has had this teacher before ( the first teacher he ever had) and she is fantastic Yay!! !!
This teacher also witnessed a meltdown in the school yard after school quiet recently and was very concerned, so she cant deny ever that he has issues (as the other teachers have).
I believe the principle is away at the moment ( long service leave) so she may not even know what is going on with the vice principles attitude. Ha I found out by accident that the local autistic school who have recommended J join a Saturday social club have a male employee their who just happens to be the son of the principle where J currently attends school. I'm hoping that this will eventually work in my favor. If the principle didn't know before about J's diagnoses I'm sure she will eventually.

Aurea, I really admire your strength and support for your son.. All I know about Austalia is that it is tomorrow for us.. Ok, then.. It is important for the child to know who his teacher is, it helps to smoothe the next year for them... Our middle school teacher was abusive to her students, including my daughter, and the whole school system canoodled together to hide the facts and protect the teacher.. she has has years of complaints, but she has tenure and they are stuck with her..You keep on doing what you are doing, and let this little fella shine like he deserves to ....You have every right to ask these simple questions regarding your son......
Wow, our school knows to let us know asap - before the holidays at least so that we can start working on the relevant social stories. Already my son has "picked" his Year 3 teacher from the ones available and is insisting that that is where he will go. We don't know yet whether or not the teacher in question will be teaching year 3 next year - let alone whether she'll be teaching him.
We also need to know if his best friend will be in the same class or not.
I have a lot of friends and family working at schools (I'm ex-DECS myself); believe me when I say that making up the timetables is a huge and disaster-prone issue, especially when parents make late requests of what other children can/can't be placed together.
It's possible that she's just having a snooty response because the list isn't finalised yet.
