Instead of whining how Mercury in the vaccines caused Autism in children, consider this.

The Mercury was taken out of vaccines years ago and the number of children developing Autism doubled instead of decreasing.

So what does all of this mean?

It means that Autism wasn't caused by the Mercury. Mercury stopped whatever it is that caused Autism in the first palce. 8O

So Parents: Urge the pharmacutical companies to put the Mercury back IN the vaccines. :o

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

If removing it from vaccines causes no reduction in the rate, then it's fairly safe to say it wasn't the cause. If you have a problem with Mercury, look to other sources.

Continuing to try to blame vaccines is a waste of resources.

Mercury causes other problems too... it is TOXIC... whether it causes autism or not carries no weight with me.. its best left out of vaccines

Many studies have reported a decline in rates by the way, it is not universally accepted that the rate did not go down.

That being said... the way that thermosol is reported was changed. It was NOT removed from ANY vaccine. It was merely REDUCED, which is a big difference.

Not only was it merely a reduction, but the "reduction" was accompanied by change in regulation that no longer requires them to say how much thermosol is contained, because it was "reduced to trace amounts".

All that being said, I believe Autism is genetic, so don't mistake my hate for vaccines for a hate of Autism, because I celebrate my autism, and the autism of my child. I do not, however, believe that living in a sterile environment and injecting yourself with poison from time to time is necessarily the smartest way to build up an immune system.

You know, I find it funny how sometimes instead of trying to accept us for who we are, some people just try to figure out why we're so different.

*i believe the original post is more of a joke than anything else, strapples.

As for the cause, I know there is a pretty common belief the reason autism is doubling is the popularity of computers. The computer industry attracts individuals with autism, or at least autistic traits, and so you have all of these people with autism/aspergers, or who aren't too far off the spectrum coming together and having children. The children are then more autistic than either of their parents. that goes back to the genetic argument. Its been years since I read the article on it though and i didn't pay much attention so i won't be explaining it any better than what I just did

I also wonder if it has something to do with the net just providing a way for them to communicate to the outside world when otherwise a person might want to just withdraw.

I think autism is genetic. Atleast in my sons case. On my husbands side of the family...major social issues, anxiety, depression. My side is the autoimmune diseases, and I had a form of epilipsy as a teenager, and my bro had dyslexia.

I definatly disagree with the mercury scapegoat, eventhough some of my friends who have autistic sons are doing the chelation treatments and supplements etc.....to each their own I guess.
