Parents, I need some advise please.

I want to know ho long a typical 6 month old infant should be sleeping during the course of a day.

Whenever my daughter rubs her eyes and is cranky and fussing, we generally swaddle her and put her down for a nap. That's about two or three times a day and she's down for a good 3 or a 4 hours a whack.

Is that normal? I mean she seems okay with it. She doesn't like to be swaddled, that's for sure but when she's lying down with binky in her mouth, her eyes roll back in her lead and she just drifts off so I'm guessing it's okay unless we're doing it too much and she's become accustomed to it.

Also, anyone have any tips on getting her to sleep a little longer in the morning. 5 AM just isn't cutting it for us who generally sleep until 9-ish.

Those are REALLY long naps! That would be why she's not seeping so well at night.

I've got 4 kids. By 6 months, their schedules consisted of about two 1 1/2 - 2 hour naps and then 10-12 hours of straight sleep at night.

My 4 month old sleeps from 9-7:30-9:00)depends on whether older kids are up getting ready for school and noisy) with one feeding between midnight and on AM. HE goes right back to sleep after the feeding and diaper change. He takes 2 long naps(2 hours average) and usually gets in another 15 min to 1/2 hour catnap or two. HE generally lasts 2 1/2 to 3 hours of wakefullness. a 6 month old should last 4-5 hours.

every kid is different.....it's so hard to figure out what's best for your child.....if you want your child to sleep later in the am, try slowly eliminating the nap that's closest to bedtime. ( start by waking her 1 hour earlier than she'd normally sleep to). also, feeding her right before she goes to bed for the evening worked well for us.

don't wake her up after an hour.....eventually, though, you should consider shortening the length of each individual nap. start slowly. pick one nap to try and eliminate. begin shortening it by 30 minutes-then 1 hour-then 1 1/2 hours etc.....if my memory serves me correctly, we were able to get rid of our babies' mid-morning nap first....the last nap to go was the afternoon nap~ and we didn't get rid of that until they were almost 5 years old.

i remember when mine woke up early i woluld feed them and then keep them in bed with me, so we both got a bit more sleep.
i would also say each kid is different and has different sleeping schedules. nad some kids just need to sleep more than others.
what time do you put her down at night if you want her to sleep longet can you stretch bedtime back by a bit? sleeping schedules change so much when they are young.

First of all, congrats!

For six months, that sounds okay to me. I remember at some point they move toward 2 naps, the first one can be about 3 hrs and the second one the same or shorter. Then they drop to one nap when they are like 2 or 3.
How much does she weigh, because I think their hunger dictates how long they sleep/don't sleep until they are like 16 lbs.

As far as a.m. waking time, my son woke up at 5 a.m. every morning until he was about 4. Not sure what to say about that one.
