Just had to post a bit of positive news folks.

To cut a long story short my youngest son who is now 12 DAMP/epilepsy has had a TERRIBLE time at primary school, for those of you elsewhere, primary in the UK goes up to 11yrs then they go to secondary until they are 16. He was dragged up corridors by his ears, pinned down, arm locks, you name it! DIABLOLICAL. Still trying to get justice and the Headteacher disciplined! Struggling though even though we have been to court and WON!

But I had to take him out of school because it was not safe for a YEAR! Finally last September he started at SECONDARY! They had a large legacy left by primary to pick up. My son was traumatised, excluded, isolated and abused because of it. He lost ALL his friends and relied on me for company for a year!

BUT..............SILVER LININGS ARE THERE. The secondary school have been REMARKABLE. The SENCO ( special ed needs co-ordinator) is BRILLIANT. We work VERY closely together as I have 2 boys with SEN, one with aspergers too. They both receive extra support and the safety of a Statement of SEN! We communicate via email and phone, sometimes on a daily basis! Little things like my youngest is learning to play drums! But he likes to drum windows, doors, televisions and even heads when he gets the chance. He also likes to smuggle his belongings into school too, they make him feel safe! But an email to school informing them of what he has and WHY he has it quells any storms ahead!

The school WHISPER to these kids instead of shouting at them. They are loved and looked after YET it is a BUSY mainstream 1200 pupil school. Every child is cared for, they are SAFE!

I have been busy helping school help my kids because I have studied them so deeply. IT WORKS FOLKS.

Anyway just had to say. We have had awful experience but now have a BRILLIANT school with wonderful teachers. I have just nominated them for the National Teaching Awards here in the UK, I do hope they get shortlisted!!

COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR SCHOOL AND THEY WILL LOVE YOU FOR IT. DO IT GENTLY.

I have written quite a bit about how to manage schools and the rules for PARENTS. If anyone would like them do let me know or I will post it.

HAVE FAITH FOLKS, If I can do it and I am on the spectrum, deeply then so can all of us, with a little work and courage!!

This is really great to hear that there is a great school out there, and especially to hear that your son is doing so well! My. son is 12 as well, so I'll be looking at him today and thinking of your son and all the improvements that have happened for him at this new school! Yay!

Kris, I AM SOOO GLAD, you are taking something positive out of this post. IT TRUE, I HAVE SEARCHED FOR AGES.........................I have 5 kids ALL on the spectrum! So to find this haven, oasis of tranquility and caring for KIDS is WONDERFULL.

And ya know what it only took 2 people to make it HAPPEN!! ME and the SENCO at the school. Between us we have very quietly and gently educated a WHOLE SCHOOL HOOORAY.

Anyone wanna know the secret?? I have the answers if you too want a school like mine! HONESTLY IT CAN BE DONE BY ANY OF YOU. YOU JUST HAVE TO FOLLOW MY RULES!! ! They are bendy ones honestly so nothing too rigid or difficult!! !

Wanna have a go yourself? Don't want to lay my ideas at your doors if they are inapporpriate so I WILL WAIT TO BE ASKED. HEY HEY!! !! IT IS POSSIBLE. WHOOHOOOOOOO!!

HAPPY ADDER HERE!! !

That is awesome!! !! !! !!
My sons school is a dream as well. His teacher, the SENCO, the principal even. The SENCO gets what she wants at his school and the communication between me and his teacher is great. His EI teacher tho was useless, glad she is out of picture now.
It is so much easier on you when the school cares too!! !

:D YOU ARE SOOOOO RIGHT!! Honestly everyone else out there. It can be done!

If you can find ONE person at school that appears to UNDERSTAND and LIKE your child you are half way there. It is a great system, no secret and no magic! Just pure kindness and tender loving care. You don't need a sledgehammer to crack a nut!! !

This METHOD works, if you want step by step instructions, bite sized tips and handy hints just yell! I can post it if you would like!! HOW EXCITING, because NOW we the parents can empower ourselves to get what is best for OUR CHILDREN. LETS DO IT!! ! POSITIVE THINKING AND WE WILL GET THERE!! TRUST ME! I AM A BRIT!! !! ! 8O :D
