Happy Mother's Day - it's Mother's Day in Australia (not sure about the rest of the world).

My 9 year old bought me chocolate out of his own pocket money! :D There was also a beautiful hand-made card.

My 8 year old made me a tye-died shirt which is beautiful! :D He also made me a hand-made card and a hand-made book-mark.

My 4 year old bought me chocolate out of his own pocket money. :D He also made me a beautiful hand-made card.

My sons made me breakfast-in-bed after letting me sleep in to 6:30am (as opposed to the usual 5:30am start).

I'm waiting for information about 1000 hours to come on tv. It's on Channel 9's today show.http://www.1000hours.com.au/home

Now I don't mean to boast or make my American friends feel bad ..... but I'm proud that in all the Australian campaigns/petitions regarding autism that the focus is about getting more support/ more services/ early diagnosis. NOTHING about cure. NOTHING about tragedy.

Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Australia still has a long way to go ... we need more training of health professionals/educators/general public. We need it to be easier to get a diagnosis. We need access to better services. But compared to the rest of the world I think we're doing ok.

We do have Tony Attwood after all.

End of my national pride rant.

Happy mothers day to you to smelena, and to all the other mums/grandma's here on this board!! !! !

I actually slept in this morning to 6.45am as opposed to the usual 4am. Both my boys are still asleep, however my oldest (18yrs) replaced all the lights in my car (brakelights and headlights one was blown ,one was on its way out) he also made a payment on our new lounge suite and he is taking me out to lunch. I'm a lucky mum. J bought me something at his school mothers day stall but don't know what yet its a big secret.

I to am waiting for the autism program on the sunday show. (thanks for posting it)

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!! ! from another proud aussie mum  :D

And happy Mother's Day to you both and to other Aussies/Kiwis/and anyone else!

My 7 year old son bought me a bag from the school's Mother's Day stall and he wrote me a card. My other son decorated a basket for me at kinder and drew a card, and DH gave me some choccies. He also organised the boys to make and bring me coffee and toast in bed, (listening to them was the best bit  ).

Thanks for that info about the 1000 hours Smelana, that's great.

So what did J bring you aurea :) ???

Have a lovely day everyone,

Temma

Aurea, I need to borrow your 18 year old son so he can teach my sons car maintenance! What a great present.

My goodness, ladies! How wonderful! Honestly, though...I'm a bit surprised - not that you don't all totally deserve all the love you're getting! But my son and husband don't see anything "special" about Mother's Day. I'm not whining here, just stating how it is at our house. Son will make me a card only if he's forced to do so with his class at school. Otherwise he doesn't seem to even think about it. One more case of him having different ideas of what's "important." DH _might_ end up running to the supermarket at the last moment Sunday morning to grab the last handful of fading roses, if I'm lucky. It's not that he doesn't love me - he just doesn't think it's important. It's not important to HIM, and since I don't bother getting upset when he doesn't make a "big deal" out of Mother's Day, or Valentine's Day, or (this year) my birthday...well, he just doesn't think it's important to ME, either. OF COURSE I know he loves me. Why should he give me flowers or a card or a gift or whatever on a particular day, then? Very practical, rational thinking. ;)

I didn't think it was a big deal, either, for a long time. But I admit to feeling a pang or two of jealousy toward all you lucky moms who get the spontaneous displays of affection, handmade cards with macaroni glued on, or whatever. ;) I just try not to expect anything at all, and that way if anything does happen, I can be genuinely surprised and touched.

Another day after being a mother for over 34 years topic

My three NT children forgot about Mother's Day. I did not remind them, either.

The ex-husband bought me a card and a small box of chocolate cherries. Yum. But now he wants to borrow money. Absolutely not.

Sorry for those mothers who are not appreciated as they deserve - you contribute too. I will submit extra virtual flowers for you :flower: :flower: :flower:

I wish I had a mother so I'm extra appreciative of those who are....my father died too.

Sinagua, I'm ashamed to admit that last year I had a tantrum over not celebrating MOther's Day. My son misunderstood what the teacher meant by "doing something special" with your mothers and he ragged on me all day to take him somewhere fun (arcade, mini golf). I didn't get crap and my husband worked that day. I was deeply entrenched in depression at the time and couldn't handle what was going on.

This year will be a bit different, since Pop has spent his first weekend at "Dad's", he'll be home tomorrow and he's made me something. Husband said he'd take him shopping but I'm not holding my breath. I'm in a different frame of mind anyhow.

Smelena,

Happy Mother's Day and thanks for the good wishes!

I wonder about a couple of the videos of your boys--they are less than a minute each and show your boys hitting a teddy bear and then rolling on the couch. Was this for a particular purpose? Were you purposefully showing your boys in a hyperactive state?

just curious.

I just thought they were cute and adorable .... the only reason I put them up!

I don't know if they are hyperactive .... this is how they act all the time. I wonder if this would be considered hyperactive next to other children???

This is what my 7 year old wrote in my Mother's Day card :D :

'Pick your nose and suck your thumb and pick your nails and be good'. He wanted to write something funny  .

Sinagua, for some reason my 7 year old has shown a lot of interest in it this year - maybe they've been talking about it at school. We've all sort of followed his lead. My mother has never shown any interest in Mother's Day and so we've never given her anything. Same with Father's Day, my dad couldn't care less, and both my parents despise the crass commercialism. As for my birthday, if i don't make a fuss about it and get DH organised to get me a present, nothing would happen, sigh.

Hyperactive? I think not. Well, except they're boys.
You should see V8 unsupervised!
I just attempted to take my cat, Tesla, for a spring walk on his new harness. More like I carried Tesla.

Smelena's boys are cute, which is why they're children.

HAppy MOthers day to all!!

i thought i might be the first post but i guess i forgot there are people in way dofferent time zones on here.

To those of you who feel appreciated or not know that you are wonderful!! !!

i am excited, B keeps telling me that he made me a bracelet for mothers day but i won't be able to get it untill he wakes up in the morning. i am so excited, my first home made mothers day present!! !! :D
last year was a bit of a let down, but my parents got me something from the kids though.

this may sound weird but a question to those of you who are seperated or divorced, does your ex help the kids get something for you for special occasions like this (mothers day & b-day) ??
