Any other parents had to listen the ignorance of others regarding how to cure your autistic child because of what Jenny Mccarthy has said on tv?

Share your experience.

What DID Jenny say exactly?
I have seen a lot of false ideas for cures though. I think that the nature of what autism is means it cannot be "cured". However if they can treat some of the disadvantages of autism, like anxiety attacks, nothing wrong with that.

I'm guessing that she is using terms like 'heal' and 'recover' to help sell her book.

In reality I'llbet that she has had some success using the kind of strategies that are mentioned on wrongplanet every day.

Can you mention some of the strategies that she promotes that are listed n WP every day...I seem to have missed them.

I picked up her book, browsed, and within a minute or so found some profanity and put it right back down. Garbage. How could you use disgusting profanity in a published book about your precious child.

Now, he's all healed. Oh, sure. She's exploiting her son.

Like I'm really going to tell you. It's fairly obvious to me that you aren't what you claim that you are.

Finally someone who gets that you don't have to spend thousands of dollars to help someone.

Also, in that article...I am so annoyed with all of this fear mongering for profit over their ideas of a niche market using children and parents.

"Is it any wonder that autism has become many new parents' No. 1 fear?"

Complete jerks. Autism has been around for a loooong time. It only became relevant in the media when others thought cha-ching.

No, you're thinking of Jenna Jameson. But Jenny has done a few Playboy spreads. Are you going to judge her for that? You should get a hold of Jenny McCarthy and personally give her a piece of your mind. If you've heard what she has to say and still think poorly of her, feel free to let the world know.

Sometimes I tend to fly off the handle at first but that usually means I just haven't seen things from different angles if that makes sense.

After doing more research on Jenny's thoughts, I do think she's just trying to do the best she can however I'm still not in agreeance with alot of where she's coming from. She on one hand did claim he son was cured but she may have just used the wrong word or really did think her son speaking meant he was no longer autistic.

Most people that have spoken about the subject around me really annoy me. They have mentioned Jenny Mccarthy and said that parents that don't have cured children are being lazy because Jenny did it with a diet!

Then they can't even tell me what diet because they say ummm you cut out protein, you cut out ...calcium!

What?

I've looked into Jenny McCarthy just a little bit. I know she's done a lot of the biomedical stuff. I didn't do any of that with my son and we didn't do any exotic therapies, but if I had, I could say that he is recovered. However, he was never profoundly autistic and neither was Jenny's son. I don't understand the nature of the spectrum. Some individuals are profoundly autistic and stay that way (despite trying everything under the sun) and others make amazing progress. It kind of feels like chance to me.

Yeah you are right about that. It is a chance and it only proves that people that try this continous stamping labels on children and claiming all children with that label are the same are wrong. All children are individuals before conformity training.
