My 1yo son just had his checkup and I was able to get a referral to the birth to three program. He definitely has sensory issues, and I think likely on the spectrum. It was so hard for me to communicate with his pediatrician! I wanted to tell her that I am sure that I have AS, but I couldn't say it. I would like to tell the OT next week during the evaluation, and I wonder if I will be able to. So frustrating when important words don't come out!

I understand how you feel.

This may help.

The syndrome clearly has a genetic compondent.

It is likely that one or both of his parents contributed to it.

Think about the grand parents on both sides.

Did they exhibit any 'odd' behaviors? It is likely that the answer is yes.

So you can inform the doctor that there is some evidence of a family history,
and let it go at that.

Remember, Doctors are there to help, and they need good accurate information in order to make good decisions.
