Anyone have an Autism pillow?

I'm not a parent, but thought if I posted here one of the moms would know what I am talking about. I saw something on a site that sells things for sensory issues and it was called an Autism pillow. It wraps around a person and kinda reminded me about those pregnancy pillows I have seen. Just wondering if anyone has the autism pillow and if it is comfortable? It costs over $200 so I'd like to know what others think before I would even think of purchasing it. Even as a older Aspie adult I still have to wrap myself tightly in blankets up to my ears plus put more blankets on top of me and this gets really hot in the summer months. I usually wake up middle of the night soaked in sweat. So I thought the special pillow might be good for addressing the need to sleep in fetal position completely surrounded.

think it seems like a lot of money ! i sleep in the fetal position ,with a pillow under my head , one on top of my head , wrapped in a blanket , snuggling a teddy bear (im 52 ) to keep from overheating , i have a fan blowing on me , and as a plus , the fan white noise helps me sleep !

Have you thought about sewing weights on an open weave blanket to provide the heaviness you crave without all the heat trapping?

That's actually a good idea, they make these round flat weighted disks for draperies. You could even try making a dubet cover for a comforter with the weights sewn into the cover. A duvet cover is like a big pillow case, sized to fit over a comforter. Pretty easy to make is you're even a novice at sewing, or maybe you know someone who sews?

there are weighted blankets out there for sale. my hubby and son both have them. hubby uses his all the time. son only uses his when he's distressed. they both say the weight feels good

Ever considered sleeping in a sleeping bag? They have an enclosing effect en with all the materials around you can choose one for every temperature. Sometimes when I am in a 'stressful' mood I sleep in one.

As a kid I slept in a sleeping bag all the time. I preffer a sleeping bag to an air matress, as well. (I slept in my sleeping bag on the floor when I was at a national training summit in Nashville a few months ago.) If I'm in a bed, frequently, my sheets will be wrapped tightly around me. I preffer to be warm, so I'll top it off with a blanket, comforter, and quilt.

Did you hear? Awhile back those weighted autism blankets were recalled due to containing lead. Being the conspiracy theorist that I am I think it was made that way on purpose.

I'm not looking for weighted anything. Basically what I am doing with my blankets is just like newborns are swaddled in a blanket to soothe them. Its not weight, its being supported on all sides. That's what the pillow does it is like C shaped and encloses a person.

We are looking at a weighted blanket for my daughter, to make the weights up the company uses little bags of sand which are slipped into pockets on the blanket. That way you can vary the weight as necessary. Plus sand is pretty easy to vaccum up if for some reason the bag gets torn open.

i researched the company that we got ours from, and indeed, ours is filled with sand....................you can also make your own if you're a good sewer. i've seen smaller weighted face masks filled with lavender even

Oooh lavendar would be lovely.
