Because of budget cuts, the school district has mandated that the A/C be fixed at 78 degrees. They're controlled by the district. That's 78 in a corner of the classroom. My husband said the middle of our daughter's classroom was at least near 85 degrees. Allaura is so temperature sensitive, this is going to be miserable and distracting for her. UGH!

near Sacramento CA where it regularly gets over 100 degrees and doesn't cool below 80 at night in late summer/early fall.

Perhaps you could document the real temperature in various sections of the classroom. 78 is set because in theory it's the "green" setting, and comfortable enough. But if SETTING at 78 doesn't result in a TEMPERATURE of 78, perhaps they will be willing to modify it.

I sent an e-mail to the district superintendent last night. I then came to learn that the actual school principal has been trying to get district to address this since the first week of August when teeachers and staff first began working/prepping classrooms. He's documented the middle of those stuffy rooms to be between 81-87 degrees himself. My e-mail did the trick! LOL! Small victory for me I guess. The district sent out AC technicians TODAY! LOL! The principal called and thanked me for bringing it to the attention of the Superintendent and told me that they are working on the problem.

GLAD TO HEAR IT! Any IDIOT knows the thermostat is supposed to be AWAY from influences, like doors, windows, and DUCTS! Unfortunately, some idiots put them right next to such places. So a briefly opened door, window, or even A/C blast can turn it off. If it was far away, such a condition wouldn't turn it off until everything was cooled similarly. The same goes for heating as well.

What I find odd ad VERY telling, is that I was in three of those classrooms regulary last year when the thermostats were set at 65. Once 35-40 bodies are added into those classrooms, the AC was not effective even then. I found the rooms to be barely comfortable to me, but I know that I'm so sensitive to heat myself, that it was no big deal. This year they set them 13 degress warmer? No way could the AC which seemed barely effective at 65, be comfortable that high. I get really uncomfortable when it truly is over 76 degrees, that tells me the AC was maybe keeping the rooms around that temp last year.
