Ok, my husband got through to the Regional Center and they reviewed my sons evaluation from his school. We have an appointment for the middle of next month for a orientation (what ever that is?) and then they will set up the appointment for the evaluation. So finally things are moving in the right direction....I hope.

Best of luck to ya. I hope that you can get services for him.

They turned Allaura(10) down for services because in addition to having an autism spectrum disorder, there has to be three areas in life(specific areas and I can't recall them- 1 was self-help skills aka being able to take care of her own hygiene at an appropriate level for her age, etc.)where deficits are present. She got a PDD-NOS diagnosis becasue the evaluator said she was not verbal enough to have asperger's but did not have enough autism traits to be diagnosed straight-up autistic. She's on meds that help her tremendously and I think that made the difference between that evaluation and her eval by the MIND Institute where she was diagnosed HFA 3 yrs ago. Funny to think that if we knew about Reigonal center services a long time ago, we'd surely have been approved services for her. She wore pull-ups to bed until she was 9 1/2 for goodness sake! She had regular, daily meltdowns and aggressive tendencies. She rarely talked.
