I have a 6 year old son who is not yet diagnosed he seems normal to me but normal to me is Aspie LOL. I was amused by him yesterday when we had to take our dog to the vet. There was a woman sitting in the vets office and he insisted on speaking to her. First he went on and on about our dog....."This is my dog hes a lizard terrier but hes supposed to be a rat terrier but he eats lizards and not rats. I have rats and he doesnt eat them and he usually eats the lizards tails, so hes a lizard terrier anyway......" ON AND ON AND ON. This woman did her best to read a magazine and try to ignore him but he just kept going. "I have a light saber because Im Luke Skywalker....My name is really Luc and my Daddy is Darth Vader....and" bla bla bla bla bla. I doubt she understood half of what he said because he talks fast and he has a slight speech impediment....I was cracking up that he just had no idea that she was not interested in talking to him. It reminds me so much of me :D . I did try several times to save the poor woman but I was slightly preoccupied with my 3 year old Autie who wanted to scale the shelves and insisted that the paw prints on the wall were "blues clues".....plus the Lizard terrier LOL.

I would have told him the lady wasn't listening because she was reading. How come you didn't tell him that?

My 3 year old would do the Blues Clues thing too. Or somehow relate it all back to the thing he has just learned how to say, or is his focus of the week/whatever. He is big on focal points.

And "lizard terrier" is very clever. I wouldn't be able to hold in an idea like that either. I would have to say it to someone. A captive audience in the waiting room works just fine, thanks.

BTW he and I both love Blues Clues, I think Steve is groovy. Joe is a distant second....

Sounds a lot like my son at 6.

Sometimes I loved it, sometimes it annoyed the heck out of me.

Sigh.

He rarely does it anymore, now that he has had pragmatic speech training. But, yes, at 6 it could really be cute. At 11 ... well, I guess it's for the best that he has learned to keep it in check.

If I had been that lady, I would have been smiling at your son and listening with my full attention, although I probably would have understood only a quarter. I think we have the cutest kids in the world. And, actually, lots of people do - SO many people used to fall in love with my son when he was little.

Lol! This sounds a lot like my son, and he is really cute, and most people are really impressed by his speech and vocabulary. "An old head on young shoulders" is one I hear a lot! :)

I must admit, I usually try to stop him talking after a bit, but sometimes, if the other person is happy to listen to him, I do enjoy the break! :D

Thanks, it's nice to be here, albeit still a bit confusing. I'm sure I'll start to find my way around.

Cute. Chatter boxes are fun. I was that way too.

My daughter isn't though. When she was four we took our dogs to the vet too. She really surprised me by introducing our dogs to the Vet.

"This is 'Good-Girl' (A.K.A Bunny), and this is 'Good-Boy'(A.K.A Max), and this is 'Pookie-shut-up', (which is close enough.)
