My daughter is a really pretty little girl and I would love to post a photo to share with the other parents but I am afraid paedophiles being able to view it.

Because paedophiles are everywhere, right?

as Jughead said when the new girl told him, "I'd like to make lots of new friends in Riverdale,"...

Don't let me stop you.

There are lots of pedos, but why they would hang out on an aspie forum god knows... to be honest best you show your kids to people you know, not the entire internet.

Draw a picture then.

The thing is, they could see your daughter inthe street but it doesn't mean you should keep her indoors or cover her from head to toe.

I know what you mean though - once they have the photos, they have them for good.

You're worried about nothing. First of all there are umpteen hundred picture sites with kids on it, one more is not going to make any kind of difference. See for yourself: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dallaportfolio/713598943/

Also check out http://www.taggalaxy.com and type in "kids" as the tag, there are so many pictures of people on the net it's not like you would somehow be unique.

Zak,

Thats correct - However what she puts up here will be here forever. IN 100 years, in 1000 years .. for the rest of our civalisation. Everything we put up is being capture openly (on sites like waybackmachine) and all goverment caches.

I doubt in a 10 years the daughter wants to look back and see mum putting pictures up to a world full of strangers.

Again you're choice, for me though i don't think its my right to put my kids on the net without asking their permission and also making sure that it is appropriate.

Strange. I was under the impression hard drives had an average 3-7 year life span.

I think you are being paranoid. How are they going to find your child? They need to know your name to find her because they need your whole name to find your address.
Unless Bella Donna is your real name and you're afraid they will do a search on it and find your residence and then come over for your daughter, even though she doesn't live with you.

Pedos are everywhere. When you go out in public, you will never guess how many pedos you saw that day. You could have saw one at Gamestop and not even know it.

I read only 20% act on it so that means lot of them don't have sex with kids or touch them wrong despite being on by them. They have to restrain themselves just like we have to restrain ourselves when we want to have sex with another guy or woman but we feel the time isn't right to have it.

Bella, I think you are right to be constrained. The internet is very public, and you've already posted enough for someone with sharp sleuthing skills to take advantage of. Pictures can be posted if everything else is kept discrete, but I think your situation is too unique.

All that said, I don't post pictures, either. My children haven't signed waivers saying I can share their images with the public at my whim

There's nothing wrong with posting pictures of people fully dressed provided that you're careful about what you disclose to strangers.

For example; Birthdays are not good, neither are social security numbers etc.. If you're cautious, you'll avoid disclosing your birth city, though it isn't too big a risk.

The worst things are your phone numbers and residential address.

There are millions of pictures of adults, children, dogs and cats all over the internet. The pedophiles are more likely to go for things that they can get off on... which would be naked people or people who are obviously in their area. eg: If you take a photo of your child outside the school gates where she goes to school and there's a big sign there, it could be bad but if you have a photo near a sign while on holiday, it's ok because the pedophiles won't be able to go there to find your daughter (unless you say - "we go there every summer").

Does this make sense?

I found this thread a while back if you happen to decide to post the pictures.

I don't understand the point of this thread. What exactly are you asking?-- it's your decision if you would like to post a picture of your daughter. Some do, some do not. An announcement of your decision isn't needed.
