This is the style we use for our 3yo - http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/lh/photo/ ... directlink

You can see the iPod just slips into the side which means one less thing to keep track of as it is all together. Not sure of the exact brand though.

Makes a world of difference when we take her out and about. No more clutching her ears and crying in pain.

Hubby likes his music, I believe the technical term is audiophile.

He recommends Sennheiser and suggests starting with 202's - http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/ho ... headphones

They are closed headphones, which means that the outside of the earpiece is encased in solid plastic so no noise leaks out of the headphones to bother others around you. Apparently it also helps to block outside noise coming in.

I'd say take your son out to local headphone selling place and let him try out a few and see what style he likes best.

Another practical tip - make sure the headest is adjustable as sometimes they are way too big for children and having them slip off constantly is a real pain.

We tried ear plugs and they were okay. I did buy some over-the-ear headphones, like you would use for hunting. They are bulky and they look funny, but my son absolutely prefers those if we go to a movie theater or some other place that is excessively loud (like amusement park). He doesn't wear them everyday, but he needs them in certain situations. People have made comments to him about the headphones. He could care less about their comments, so I don't care how it looks to other people either.

My son doesn't want music in his ears. He was very clear on that point.

Tortuga, our sons sound similar.

I need something like that for my son, Nate. I don't think Nate would like ear plugs. He absolutely can't stand music either. My kids are so opposite. My other child sings all the time and it drives Nate crazy. Sibling rivalry is starting in every way

Thanks for the links Leech!!

Heidi hates ear plugs, she shrieks until they are removed.

I find the similarities and differences in our children so fascinating.

Heidi loves to listen to music through the headphones, she enjoys Nine In Nails and the Wiggles and Bindi Irwin and the Crocmen and The Out There Brothers.
