Hi all,

My kids love watching 'A Charlie Brown Christmas', and love Snoopy especially, and watching it for the umpteenth time I realized why. I think Snoopy is an aspie.

He has prefers to interact with the world in his own imagination.
He reacts inappropriately in social situations by spontaneously dancing, kissing, booing, etc.
For tasks he wants to do, he focuses really well and achieves great creative success.
He has a short attention span for everything else.
He expects the world to take care of him and is puzzled when it does not.

I love Snoopy, and I think he's great role model for my kids. He's happy with who he is. I wish I had a 'Snoopy Aspie' poster, or am I pushing this too far?

Peace out,
Sandy

 I Love Snoopy! My favorite cartoon dog of all time.
Is he AS - Yes or no? It doesn't matter, my love is unconditional.

Huh? What makes you think this is an aspie trait? Do you think this applies to adult aspies, or only to children? If only children, wouldn't this be normal for children of any sort?

I love the Snoopy dance, and when Snoopy reads the Dancing Bunnies book at the library in Snoopy Come Home, and can't help but laughing. Speaking of, I wonder what you think of the concept in Snoopy Come Home that Snoopy isn't allowed at certain places. It's clearly a message against what was going on at the time the film was made, regarding segregation. I also think maybe Autie or Aspie kids could relate to feeling unwanted or undesired in certain places, and it might be a good way of bringing up those feelings with them.

There's also a hard to find, half hour tape of It's a Mystery Charlie Brown where Woodstock can't find his nest and Snoopy wears a Sherlock Holmes outfit and tries to help Woodstock find it. There's a funny scene where Woodstock gets angry with Snoopy in it, which was on YouTube. I guess they took it down over fears of copyright infringement or something, that's a shame.

I wonder if Charles Schulz had AS. It's always a wonder when an author makes their characters aspie like.

about 10 years ago I decided that I wanted to get a tatto. realizing that they are permament I wanted to get something with a strong meaning to me. I have a tattoo of Snoopy and Charlie Brown. It is most likely the only tattoo I will ever get. I like Snoopy because he is allways doing his thing and has a very vivid imagnation. I did not know what Aspergers is when I got my tattoo but I think Snoopy is a good role model. Charlie Brown is also a good role model. I find it chalenging at times to be positive in my life. Somehow no mater what bad thing happens to Charlie Brown he never gives up or in. Sure he might get frustrated but he is not detered from trying.
