I'm a Playstation man, my whole life, own a PS3, but also like the XBox 360, but I find the PS3 fanboys just as annoying as the 360 ones, someone please present a CONSTRUCTIVE argument as to why they prefer one and hate the other.

I prefer PS3 simply because I own a gaming PC, and most of the good games on XBOX 360 are also on PC or will be in the near future. Most of the time the PC versions are superior to the XBOX 360 versions. Put simply there are more exclusive titles on the PS3 than on the XBOX 360.

My overall preference is gaming on the PC, however.

Well I think the main reason that they like one and hate the other is that they have invested money, time and emotion into buying a console, and for them to feel better about their choice they put down the others so they have the best. I have a 360 though curently has a the Red Ring of Death, though I think it is good, I also have a DS and has a few good games, I have been a bit of a Nintendo fanboy. My family has a Wii, there are some enjoyable games, but I think the Wii doesn't offer me much except for some of my Nintendo favirouts. I don't have a PS3 or PSP I would mostly put it down to price, I can't suport all choices. But away from being a fanboy, I expect that the PS3 should be better then 360, I actualy have felt a little anoyed when I have heard that some 360 versions were better looking the their PS3 counterpart, Like what I heared of Ghost Busters.

As a gamer I think it is important to look at all the good sides of even the consoles you don't have.

You see, I don't think this kind of behavior (bash others that are different) don't have anything to do with video games at all. It seems that people enjoy the feeling of belonging to some sort of group and they will speak ill of anyone who doesn't belong to their group. The video game thing is just another kind of group like any other. Some other kinds of groups that I can think of are:
- Behavioral: emo vs. some other thing (don't know, sorry)
- Religious: catholic vs. spiritism
- Nations: my country is amazing! Yours suck
- Musical: I like rap, you like rock, so you suck
- Mental: NTs vs. aspies! You will find it right here on WP.

That kind of stuff. You see, you will find that there's a lot of people that work in this way. I think we all should make some effort not to have this kind of behavior since it is destructive.

As for video games, I prefer the PC. That is because I live in Brazil and in here the games for video games are extremely expensive. PC games cost for me a fraction of console games. See? My preference is based on some solid argument (not always, as I said, everyone should make an effort in this regard). Most people will have their preference base on something like "oh, xbox is lame", duh!

My history on games is: MSX, Amiga, SNES, Nintendo 64, PS1, PS2 and PC.

I rather like my PC, consoles are usually replaced very quickly -.- Within 5 years. And then they stop making games for the console you owned. =( At least with a PC you can use an emulator and revisit those old console games. :P

I buy the hardware for the software.

I got an Atari Jaguar for AvP
a Neo Geo for KOF
a Atari 7800 for Missing in Action
a 360 for GTA IV, and GHIII
a PSP for FFVII and Loco Rocco
a DS for Tetris DS, Therisa, and Planet Puzzle League, Metal Slug

So far, no PS3 game has screamed out, "BUY ME!" yet

With modern consoles being so obscenely expensive these days, and excellent games/features for each system (unlike the Golden Age, 8-bit, and 32-bit eras, when one system rose above the others) it's really no wonder that people get loyal to one particular console.

I miss the good old SNES/Genesis days... Neither system was too expensive, and it didn't set you back two arms and a leg to have both of them (I had both during the height of their popularity).

I never understood the whole "fanboy" thing...I just go where the games are.

On a seperate note, I pulled out my old Playstation the other day and I've been thinking...I think the thing that hurts Sony and Microsoft the most is they have no first-party support at all. Looking back through the years, whether it was Nintendo or Sega or even Atari, their real "killer apps" were all first-party games...Sony and MS never had that going for them at all (though you can argue that MS owns Bungie).

Idunno, just a random thought bubble, seemed somewhat relevant.

We have a PS2 and I've just gotten a Wii...

The PS2 is better...
- More games
- Cheaper
- Nice traditional console.

The PS2 would be the best except that it doesn't let me play...

Doom 3, KOTOR, Old DOS/Windows Games, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind

I'll admit though that I'm enjoying the Force unleashed on Wii.

I guess every platform has its strengths and weaknesses... I'd go for the platform that lets me play everything.

I like sony because:
-they support their systems for much longer than microsoft or nintendo (PS2 came out before gamecube or xbox, and it is STILL getting new games for it).
-PS3 has a blu ray player
-Playstation controller is the best to me

I have a ps, ps2, and ps3. I was considering buying an Xbox360, but the above reasons, plus the Red Rings of Death made me choose the PS3.

I'll still dust of my PS2 for a some ATLUS RPG's or PS1 games.

Considering the number of failed SONY formats, like Minidisc, Digital 8, Beta, etc....
It's good to see that Br won the newest format war, and building a Br drive into the PS3 was a VERY smart move, but removing the Emotion Engine was a dumb move and cost them my purchase of a PS3 at least until they get the software emulation working.

Make the PS3 more viable, keep the built-in Bluetooth, add a second HDMI port, add WIFI G or draft N, add PS2 compatibility, get Home up and running, make the browser flash video compatible.

the PS3 is more powerful than my Mac mini, it has WAY more potential that the 360, and esp. the wii could EVER hope for.

I just hope SONY doesn't blow it too bad.

I'd be supporting them today if they hadn't laid a PS3 shaped compatibility turd on the PS2.

Doesn't change anything when you have the best of what you want for a given console... (such as PS1) And i doubt you'd want me to list down everything we have =.= Seeing as it was our first console.

Prior to the death of the Dreamcast I was a staunch SEGA supporter but that isn't true anymore. The quality slip after the system died was just massive and really killed any dedication I had for this company.

Now, I'm pretty platform independent but my preference is anything but Nintendo. I would really love to see Nintendo release something of SNES era quality, but the likelihood of that happening is slim to none.
