I have to say that Chrono Cross was pretty disappointing despite it being a good game, also I felt FF9 was also a huge disappointment, I thought they were going to remake like FF1 and enhance it with everything they had learned from FF7 onwards... boy was I wrong!

lost planet. im weird because ill tend to like games and movies that recieved negative reviews but seriously, the dialogue in this game was so cheesy as was the story. I thought the combat was okay at best but i was expecting something better. im looking forward to the 2nd one though.

Resistance 2

Not too bad, but WAY too generic compared to the first game. I had gotten my hopes up so much that I even pre-ordered the $80 collectors edition. Guess I should have at least waited a bit and gotten the standard edition :(

Street Fighter 4. Goodness gracious, that game was awful - easily one of the worst fighters I've ever played.
Slow, overly simplistic, unbalanced, sh***y roster, sh***y character designs.

Arkham Asylum. Honestly, I think its gameplay is the only interesting thing about it. Had it not been for that, I would've never given it a second look. IMO it is a completely average game that's been saturated in Batman juice.

Id have to say Metal Fatigue. For all intents and purposes, it was shipped half-baked. Game AI tended to cheat, buggy unit AI, poor sound quality, etc. I got it because it was a half-decent attempt at a giant robot/mech RTS with custom options for the main units and the solo maps were worth trying, as well as some multiplayer (when it decided to work). Official reviews of this game gave it 67%. :? I hate it when a great concept gets screwed over by poor design/planning.

i am probably going to get yelled at so badly for this, but i'd have to say the most disappointing game is world of warcraft. for all you pay, so many details that i enjoy most about rpgs, both major and minor, are missing. i can't assign skills, feats, stat points, etc, and i can't even move around the window for my back pack! does not compare to freebies like neverwinter nights 1 and 2 online play. (have to buy game, but online play is free.) each server is different and unique to the person who designed it. i mean, wow isn't a terrible mmo, but i'd just expect a little more att'n to detail. with that being said, i can't wait to make the exploding sheep i heard about. exploding sheep! :D

Bah, Ive been playing it for a little over 4 years now, and you are correct on many things. However, they did this to simplify the programming a bit (i think). You can actually customize your points, but only with the gear provided. They wanted the game more talent oriented than stat oriented. As for exploding sheep, they have a new one for lvl 80 engineers . . . the explosive decoy . . . cleverly disguised as a brown bunny. Fishing for noobs, anyone?

Going back a very long time, but Space Flight 2 was the biggest disappointment for me. It had everything I liked up until the end. When finally you defeat the evil Uhl, release the Umanu from their slavery to it and thus free the source of Shineum fuel to the rest of the Galaxy, the game just abrubtly ends after the Umanu thank you! No chance to further explore and trade without the prospect of getting your butt shot off by the Umanu and having a fighting chance against the Spemin. It sucked balls!

I'd have to say TLoZ: Phantom Hourglass. Mostly because the Temple of the Ocean King (or whatever it's called) was a huge pain in the butt. You had to go back to it every time you completed a dungeon, it was always under a time limit, and it just wasn't that fun to explore. It's because of that stupid temple that I have yet to beat the game.

WoW, I expected it to be better.

I also thought Mario kart ds was going to rock HARD, but it turned out to be great instead, but it's still awesome.

Sin and Punishment on N64/Wii Virtual Console.

Good game, but not the New Age of Video Game Bliss I'd heard it was.

For me, its a tie between Metroid Prime Hunters and Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Hunters felt too action oriented and not at all like Metroid, and Zelda just didnt work with the stylus control, doing things I didnt want, moving too far, not registering stylus movements, etc. The failure of these two games to me made me hate the DS for a short period of time, since they were both first party games which are often considered the strong selling point of Nintendo's consoles.

Recently, I'd have to say Empire Total War. It's just like, yeah. This is supposed to be the big sequel? It doesn't even work properly. Medieval 2 Total War is only saved by fan mods. The series has been going down hill since Rome Total War. You could say since they started trying to mass market the games. I'm probably not going to touch any more of their releases unless they swing towards the older game styles.

The Mega Man X series. It can never hold a candle to the original NES series.

Probably STALKER or Trespasser or something like that...games that promised a whole lot, but the devs didn't get enough time to finish them =/

Though I suppose Trespasser was still way more fun than all the bad hype had lead me to believe.

I was also looking through my old PC gaming magazines not too long ago, and found a bunch of articles on Halo, and it actually sounded like a game I would like to play. Of course, it turned out much, much different, and I'm not really a fan

Oh, of course, Thief 3. The second game being probably the absolute best game I have ever played (it's got stiff competition from Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Bros. 3), we finally get a sequel and it's a buggy, uninspired, broken gameplay, un-steampunked, shoddy Xbox port of an excuse =/ At least the storyline was pretty good, and the AI was a whole lot better than the previous games. And the graphics, I guess, if you're into that sort of thing.
