I used to play video game ROMs on Emulators a LOT in the past. I had

Visual Boy Advance (GBA)
MAME (Arcade)
ZSNES (SNES)
FCE Ultra (NES)
No$GB (GB)
SSF (Sega Saturn)

I use many, but my favourites are:

Atari800Win (for the Atari 8-bit Family)
Steem (for the Atari ST)
Stella (for the Atari 2600)
MAME (Arcade Emus)
....several other console emus used from time to time.

Traditionally I'm an Atari boy as you can see. I owned a 2600 once - I then didn't own any console right up until I bough a PS3 earlier this year.

I mainly used No$GBA for DS ROMS, but now I use DeSmuME version 9.4, as that has a very handy avi recording feature, much like VBA.
Also use Project 64 and VBA on occasion.

Sega Genesis: Generator and Genesis Plus
Nintendo 64: Mugen64
SNES: Snes9x
Sega Master: SMSPlus

Also, I have a Wii.

Have you tried Kega Fusion? This is the best Sega emulator around and emulates the Mega Drive/Genesis, Master System, Game Gear, SG1000, Mega CD and 32X.

I use FinalBurn Alpha as well as some SNES and N64 emulators. I like FinalBurn the best though, as I can use my Street Fighter 4 controller with it and it feels like I am at the arcades

I barely look at my PC emulators anymore. I hacked my wii so it plays all my old favorites via homebrew emulator with the classic controller.
Chrono Trigger FTW!

I use VBA to experiment with Pokemon glitches... that's all really. I may download ZSNES to play Earthbound though.

There's a few, but none of them are 100% yet. It's still best to stick with the original hardware.

I use emulators to play some Amiga games. I also use Virtual PC too.

I got Carmageddon to run in XP just fine without DOSBox, just use VDMSound. Seemed to be running at a smooth 60 FPS in 640x480 mode, so I hacked the config files and boosted the heck out of the draw distance. Doesn't run at 60 FPS anymore after that, but it's still really smooth, and I think the tradeoff is well worth it.

I couldn't get my High Octane version to run in VDMSound though, so I had to *cough cough* borrow *ehem* the full version of the game from the Internet ;)

It's perfectly legal to have an emulator even if you don't own the console. However, technically, it's only legal to have ROMs if you back them up yourself from the carts/discs that you own.

...but who really cares?

I try to use Underground Gamer for games, it's usually a lot easier to find what I'm looking for.

I have a ton of Game Boy and Game Boy color games on my Cowon D2. I play Tetris Pokemon Blue and Dr. Mario on it all the time. Not to mention Mario Golf.

I run a lot of emulators. One my PC I have Atari 2600, MSX, PC98, TurboGrafx-16, NES, SNES, N64, GB/C, GBA, Master System, Genesis, Game Gear, NeoGeo Pocket Color, WonderSwan, and PSX. On my PSP, I have SNES, NES, GBA, GB/C, and run games through Popsloader.

I've been playing games since I was little, and it's way easier to play the games I grew up with that way than on the systems themselves. Except maybe N64, since I don't have an adapter for that controller.
