Playing a tennis or golf game on the Wii might be a good exercise, because you'd have to swing the controller around just like a real racket or club.

Someone said the difference between a sport and a game is whether or not you can do it while eating a hot-dog.

As a gamer, I think most people refuse to acknowledge video games as little more than thumb-twiddling. They don't understand the amount of intelligence, puzzle and problem solving skills, it takes to be good at them. Also as you were saying about gaming being considered a sport, ghostwhisperer, if you play something that requires alot of fast button pushing like a fighting game, it can raise your heart rate.

The people who insist video games do nothing but make kids fat, are those people who want to push their kids to give up any self-identity so they can have alot of friends and appear "normal". Also not all video games are violent, the majority of violent games come from American companies. When it was only Nintendo and Sega, rarely were there any games all that violent. Of course, aside from Mortal Kombat. In Japan gaming is seen as a culture respectable, as any other culture built around a hobby. I am hoping that with the new technology, being used to make more communities through the internet via hookup from next generation consoles, people will at least then stop whining about how video games make people loners.

I wouldn't class it as a sport, but a hobby.

It's about as much a sport as masturbation, going by your description.

I see it as this: video games and "real sports" are almost complete polar opposites. Both share in the fact that to be good at both you need fast reaction ability, the ability to process information mentally and rapidly, and to have some degree of stamina (play DOOM for 12 hours). "Real" sports focus more on physical ability, whilst video games focus more on mental ability, which are polar opposites. And by applying Newtonian Law (If 'a' is true, then 'opposite a' is also true) in this context, we can safely conclude that either: A) both video games and "real sports" both have equally opposite merits and can BOTH be considered as sports; or B) I don't know what I'm talking about. Either way, I still win.

No.

I value video games too much to consider them to be a sport.

Games are sports
Why 1 its a hobby just like sport
2 If your good in it you'll make big money out of like sporters always do
3 Games not violent you only make games as violent as the person that plays it
4 A game can than be compared with a game of chess thats a sport the also sit and only think So why should games not be sport
