Fallout 3... I spent $50 hoping it at least resembled its predecessors a little bit. Not in graphics, but in depth of gameplay, coherency of writing, and consistency of the world. No such luck.
+1
Fallout fan here.
FO3 is worth the money you pay for it (if you get the GOTY edition) as you get enough content to say you get what you pay for, but in a big way, it just lacks the SOUL of what made Fallout...Fallout.
I knew it would be very different due to new technology. I kinda like the look, no complaints there. But the game just lacks something. In the first game, you had to have companions to help carry all the loot. Now, with fast travel, it's not necessary. Companions are questionable in nature...no real substance to make you want them.
Don't know if it would be my GREATEST disappointment because I heard all the praises and criticisms long before I finally bought it...so I kinda knew what I was getting.
Mass Effect 2 was a mixed reaction. In many ways better than Mass Effect, but also lacking something. Could just be the "blah" of being 2nd in a planned Trilogy.
Deus Ex: Invisible War (aka DX2) was a total abortion after Deus Ex.
