Fallout 3... I spent $50 hoping it at least resembled its predecessors a little bit. Not in graphics, but in depth of gameplay, coherency of writing, and consistency of the world. No such luck.

+1

Fallout fan here.

FO3 is worth the money you pay for it (if you get the GOTY edition) as you get enough content to say you get what you pay for, but in a big way, it just lacks the SOUL of what made Fallout...Fallout.

I knew it would be very different due to new technology. I kinda like the look, no complaints there. But the game just lacks something. In the first game, you had to have companions to help carry all the loot. Now, with fast travel, it's not necessary. Companions are questionable in nature...no real substance to make you want them.

Don't know if it would be my GREATEST disappointment because I heard all the praises and criticisms long before I finally bought it...so I kinda knew what I was getting.

Mass Effect 2 was a mixed reaction. In many ways better than Mass Effect, but also lacking something. Could just be the "blah" of being 2nd in a planned Trilogy.

Deus Ex: Invisible War (aka DX2) was a total abortion after Deus Ex.

Rome Total War

It had w*k AI
It felt like a monty python version of history (flaming pigs, head chucking bretons)
It was delayed for a year to make the game more "accessable" i.e. dumbed down.
During that year it recieved tons of hype had a game show (Time Commander) promoting it, lots of promotion in mags before release

Its taken years of modding by people in their own time to make it a decent game (Europa Barbarian Mod)

Medieval total war and Shogun total war were so much better even with the out of date 8 bit graphics

The game engine it used didn't really achieve maturity till the expansion for its sequal medieval 2 Kingdoms. Even then its still taken a greek modder to give it any decent AI

It really disappointed me as a game I was expecting so much more. Empire total war has felt like a repeat so i've not wasted my time on napoleon total war. Might get it for the multiplayer campaigns but thats it.

napoleon total war is a lot harder (for me at least). i agree, rome was easy to finish, with any faction.

I've heard good things about NTW but I prefer the big global scope of ETW even if it is bugged flawed and now inferior.

Except without the telepathic guards, owning a home in every town, raiders with state of the art scaled armor, and utterly contradictory objectives (being the head of every guild in the world at the same time).

If you're talking about the transition from Active Time Battle to Active Dimension Battle then I understand fully, as it made the game unique as an RPG, but what of FFX? It's pretty neat. :)

I lost interest at 7.

Though really, I never could get myself through 6 either, and these days I'm finding it difficult to enjoy 4 beyond the nostalgia =/

Love the game as a whole, but the last fight in Prince of Persia: Sands of Time disappointed me.
The first half of the fight, I felt like I was beating on an old man - I was looking forward to what they had in store me during round two. I knocked the old guy down, and waited expectantly for the epic-ness to begin.
Then... He just... stayed there. Lying on the floor. :|
I realized that I hadn't just finished the first half - that was the whole battle.

He didn't even turn into a dragon! Or a bear. ):

City of Heroes

Hey! An MMORPG about superheroes! Sounds like fun!

- Wait a minute, where are all the capes? Are those the only armor styles they have? I have to unlock them, first? At WHAT LEVEL?!

- Hey, first mission! Now I have to jog halfway across town to save the day! (A minute later) God, this is taking forever...

- Finally, I get to choose a new power! I think I'll take, ummm...FLIGHT! Hover? Well, okay, I guess it works... (After a moment) Screw flying, I think I'll go back to jogging across town...

- This area's boring. I think I'll try a new area. (later) This area's kicking my ass! I think I'll go back to the noob area and level up some more...

- Okay, screw it. (Logs off)
