I was curious to see which characters you sent to their death and why? Did you do it on accident because you didn't want to reload, or did you do it on purpose because you didn't find any value in the character?

Here are my picks:

Thane. It was mercy on my part. He was dying and he was a warrior. I picked him because I wanted him to die an honorable death. I figured if he died defending the galaxy this might have a huge impact on his son. His son might not see ill of his father. This was my first and final decision that I didn't change. I was at peace with this decision.

Mordin Solus. I saw little value in this character aside from his genophage involvement. I thought about keeping him around to work on curing krogans but in the end I thought Grunt would be a much better symbol for Krogan unification. A previous attempt caused Jack to die, but I wanted her on my team alive. In a second attempt Grunt died, but I remembered the Shaman's email about "keeping him alive."

Legion. I never liked the geth even when one was following me. When given the choice between destroying the "Heretics" or reprogramming a virus to "save" them I choose to destroy them. I thought of Tali's people, and struggles they might face to reclaim their world. If there was any way to help by trimming down the geth population this would be it. So there's a large number of geth gone along with Legion. Good riddance! In a previous attempt Samara died. One of the few characters I liked on a personal level. Compared to Legion she had all the values I wanted in a teammate: loyalty, trust, and above all power. Legion was a husk of a geth, and a disposable one at that.

None of mine died :X. I sent Mordin because he seemed like he'd be the best tactician. I sent Legion and Garrus after that, for the same reasons.

How is that even possible? Have you reached the end? The game is scripted so that a total of three die. It's even scripted so that depending on selection order certain characters will die.

Check the achievements. It's possible. You just have to complete the various sections within a certain time limit, I believe.

Oh wow. Well that sucks! There's no turning back for me. I put 40 hours into the game. I don't really want to replay the game to save three character, two of which I didn't care for. Besides I think it'll be cool to see what happens in Mass Effect 3 with a few deaths.

Anyhow congrats on achieving that.

Well, for one thing, if you'd reprogrammed the geth instead of destroying them, they'd be on hand to help you with the Reapers in 3...

Incidentally, it's not a time-limit thing - if you complete the loyalty missions for the characters, and don't send them on blatantly unsuitable missions (Mordin can lead the survivors back to the Normandy, but can't lead the second fire team, for instance), the character will live.

None of mine died either, if they did, I just started over. I upgraded my ship quite quickly at the begining of the game ao none would die when entering, I sent Legion through the pipes (kept haveing Mordin die), Miranda lead the second team (she survived where Grunt and Zaeed failed), Jacob took the crew back, Jack was my shield and I finished off with Tali and Garrus who were my favourites.

Everyone liked me, excpet possibly Jack who probably lead on too much, I turned her down, and she would keep telling me to F@#$ off. Took me a little while but, I still had everyone, it sure was bugger though useing multiple save files and keep redoing things. What really surprised me was that Miranda survived while a veteran merc and a super Krogan would die, though I really did not care for either Miranda or Jacob either, if you are interested I romanced Tali, she is probably my favourite character over both games, Liara was a bit of a dissapointment.

Also I think I have pretty much done full good.

the way to make sure every one survives is to: with the pipes chose a good engienier like tali/legion and for the fire squad allway chose some one who can lead a team like jacob/garrus for the leading back of the crew chose any one and they will survive with the biotic shield i allways choose jack as she is more powerful than samara im my opion and for the fire squad again someone who can lead a team for the final part go by the ballenced team like on soilder, biotic and tecniction but make sure they are loyal as if they are not loyal shepard will die with the ship the only upgrades you need are the cannon (garrus), armor plating (jacob) and the kinetic shielding (tali) you do not need them loyal you just need to ask them if they can think of any thing that can improve the ship at any time

Yeah, I just realized I misremembered the people I used. Those were my favorites not who I chose . I actually chose jack for the biotic field, legion for the pipes and Garrus for the firing.

All and none of them.

Honestly. You know that who survives ME2 will potentially have consequences in ME3. I opt to leave the door wide open and keep them all alive.

I did try a "kill them all" run where even I die in the end. I wonder if it's possible to lose everyone but one of the two with you so that you and that other guy survives but everyone else does not. I might try for it eventually.

Still, all of my saved characters have everyone surviving the suicide mission.

Because my brother thinks the Xbox is his(I should never have decided to wish for a joint christmass present all those years ago), I can't play the xbox without him throwing a fit. He has nothing else in the house that keeps him entertained. I write, read, play portable games, do lightsaber choreography, build costumes, play computer games. He plays xbox, goes outside and plays basketball when his neighborhood friends visit, and play airsoft again when they visit. He usually has friends over playing xbox with him(every single day) so he always has a reason to play. The only times when i can play are when he is gone, and by the time he gets back, he yells for me to get off. He then procedes to tell me I have no friends and that I'm a loser. I have gotten in to fights with him because of his love affair with the machine. I've beat him with an oak sword once. And with a fiberglass/pvc lightsaber which was pretty epic, but I always get in wicked trouble. Just fights in general regarding the xbox have made us lose it for a month. It is so hard not to punh the kid in a face. When we adopted him, I immediately accepted him as my brother and played with him all the time. But now he's an as*hole. So although I've had Mass Effect 2 since the week it came out, I still haven't finished it. I don't even think I'm half way through if you count the loyalty quests as part of the game proper. It's a shame.

Sorry, I needed to vent. :) I wish I finished Mass Effect 2 like you guys. I wish I could play xbox whenever I feel like like most people I know.

In the dialog option I asked "why don't you make that choice Legion?" Legion replied with something about Shepard's dealings with Heretics before. In the end Legion, and the geth he represented, gave me the choice to save or destroy the Heretics. I choose to destroy them. Since their permission was given I think in the end they will offer their help against the Reapers minus the fifty thousand or so I killed on the Heretic space station.

Oh, the Heretics . . . that explains it. There was a mission in ME1 where you could assist Tali in finding Geth who had not been affected by the Reapers and were out on their own (needed them in order to get some data about so she could present it for her return gift). I'm guessing the followers of the Reapers were the Heretics.
