Good. Anyone signing up for Blizzard stuff in the future, or indeed any website or online service, just give a fake name.

I've never used my real name for any website that asks for it. Usually they get the word "No" in both name fields. And for websites which ask for your email address for no real reason they get [email protected].

Still, I've never played WOW. Luckily.

this was one of the things that made me ultimately quit wow, one of the many things. real id. i gave that friend on wow my real id or i may have or not. he gave me his email so... argh i can't believe i did that. i live in constant fear now i'm glad my bro and dad own guns.

quick note i blocked him on all accounts, i had to get a spam blocker on my email.

i had my nickname down as my first name on wow but i think i told him my real name at some point.

in short terms real id is a bad idea my parents showed me how easy it is to get a person's info nowadays, i shutter at the thought.

I'm still not happy with the direction the game is going. They are dumbing the game down too much. I like a bit of complexity in my RPGs. I'm considering going to another game instead of buying Cataclysm.

WoW has been going in the wrong direction for years.

Despite its 11 million subs, about a 3rd of which might be gold sellers, will no longer have the opportunity to do any type of reading on their classes and specs once Cataclysm comes out. The reason they're dumbing down the game is because of the casual player who never takes the time to read up. It takes only what, 5-10 minutes to read up on how your class and spec works.

Basically, WoW has ultimately told the players that you need this and that for PvE, while also telling them that for PvP that you need these and those.

Very happy to see they changed their minds. I don't know how they could get the idea that they would be able to get away with such a change. I like real-ID, but only in-game where I can controll who sees my name and who don't.

It's a marketing ploy, kinda like, "So easy a caveman could do it." Blizz doesnt want to restrict it's clientele, so make the game easy to play . . . if you die, it's your own damn fault. As for the talents, that is still your call and I've used several variations that have worked quite well and could not be called "cookie cutter specs." But I do agree that it has been dumbed down too much . . . it would be nice if they actually introduced some level of problem solving quests if you wanted to do those instead of the, "Find this, kill that," quests that are common. Hell, i would definately get back into the game if they offered problem solving like NWN had.
