Oh yeah, video games magically activate a chemical inside your body that causes your brain to slowly and painfully decay, amirite?

never ever had an interest in gaming.

spend my time on reading & gathering knowledge etc. - so i use at least as many hours in front of the screen as hardcore gamers do...

The vast majority of girls aren't true gamers whether they have AS or not. I assumed the OP was female the second I saw the thread title actually.

Most girls are either very casual gamers or not ones at all. There are exceptions of course though.

I`m not a gamer. Used to be, but now I wouldn`t call what I do gaming. I play like two games every so often for like eight minutes and get bored.

I used to spent all saturday playing Nintendo when I was in grade school, but things change as you get older. I'd almost prefer the company of non gamers.

Hello :)

I have a HUGE collection of retro games consoles and I play games a lot. Definitely not casual either because I want to finish them all!

I do know a lot of people with AS who don't play games though.

Shooting games? no
strategy games? yes. Portal is AWESOME!! !! I also like Minecraft.
seriously, if you haven't tried Minecraft, you have to try it.
on the other hand, if you have a tendency to get obsessed with things easily, it might not be such a great idea, since it is SOOOO addictive, and you will never want to stop playing!

MINECRAFT!! !! !

NOPE!

I hate video games (aside from dance dance revolution, that will always have a place in my heart)

and computer games take too much effort and i don't want that stereotype on my shoulders.

Plus, I would suck at it and there is no way to be the best, someone will always beat you, always.

No, although there are a couple things that I like to play like twice a year. I loved Super Nintendo when I was little. If I play a game I like it to have a clear end point. I don't understand the appeal of games where you wonder around in empty rooms and hope to stumble on something. I'd rather beat someone up on Mortal Kombat.

Its not that you're not a gamer... its that you haven't found the game for you...yet ;)

I thought the first two were excellent, before it became a cash cow.

Sorry if I seem defensive, but video games, comic books (or graphic novels, or sequential art, if you prefer), and animation are criminally under appreciated as art forms. You don't HAVE to like it, just don't say you don't like books 'cause you read a bad one, y'know? :)

Agreed? Do you like Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed, by any chance?

They're both great games storywise. Both of them have awful gameplay in the first game, though, and improve in the sequel.

Well, gaming is less prevalent in the female demographic, rather than having to do anything with Aspergers

I have Halo: Combat Evolved on the PC and it's a great game as far as shooters go, but I don't think that it serves as a good indicator of what games can do. It's mindless fun, but not really anything to judge the medium by. Better shooters would be Bioshock, Metroid Prime, or Portal (if you count Portal as a shooter).

I have beaten Mass Effect and am currently playing Mass Effect 2. They are some of the best games I have ever played! :D I have Assassin's Creed, but I can't get into it. It's WAY too repetitive. I've heard the sequel fixed that, but I've got higher priorities.
