Morrowind is pretty fun. It does get old after a while though. I got sick of it by the time I started the bloodmoon expansion.

Usually when a player has problems with the Sims 3 crashing, freezing is a sign that the computer is not compatible with the game. From my limited knowledge on the subject it could be not enough memory, the video card, sound card, etc. Basically anything.

What exactly appeals to you in the game? I know for myself it's the basic gameplay. Also it's a game of point and click where there is no worry about dying because I am not able to kill that monster because my computer is too slow or I can't seem to move that quickly.

If you were to post your DxDiag you would be able to find out why you are having problems with your Sims 3 game and perhaps find out if your computer could support any of the games being suggested. Should you need any help finding the folder let us know.

I agree.
I think I owned all of them at some point several years back; it was my favorite game in my days of early primary school.
Oddly enough, I just found RC Tycoon 3 again today and started playing.

I was addicted to Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne. I also love Assassins Creed, Half Life (Buy the Orange Box and get Portal too :D ), then there's Call of Duty, Dragon Age and if you are somewhat like me Sims3 is kinda fun sometimes. Specially so if you like decorating.

Open source Transport Tycoon

It's free. Its by the same fella who made Roller Coaster tycoon, its moddable and ridiculously addictive.

Gratuitous Space Battles. Design ships and send them into battle, indie developer worth supporting.

AI War: Fleet Command. Your a small insurrection fighting a huge AI empire. Very unique real time strategy game but probably more a niche genre

Solar 2. Cheap indie game on steam. Start as a little asteroid grow into a planet then a star and eventually a black hole

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946. An easy to get into flight sim now bundled together with all its expansions. It has a sequel out now but I still prefer this one.

Silent Hunter 3 with the Grey Wolves unofficial expansion pack. A fantastic U-boat simulation game. Play a career as a U-boat commander from 1939-45

Theme Hospital. Still works on modern systems still great fun. Bullfrog (defunct UK gaming company) made some fantastic games Dungeon Keeper is another recomendation

Star Trek Birth of the Federation. Best Star Trek game made IMO.

Empire of the fading suns. If your into deep strategy with a rich gaming universe this is a great retro game to get into. Not for the faint hearted

Fragile Alliegance. Great old DOS Game that should still work on modern systems with DOSBox. Run a remote mining company in asteroid belts with other alien species competing for resources. Totally under rated IMO

Sim City 4 +Rush hour expansion. Still the best city building genre game out there. Tons of mods to improve on it too. Huge community, nearly as big as the sims one.

I approve. Had a lot of fun with that back in the day.

From Dust. Looks like a Populous clone. Haven't played it yet, as I'm determined to get my money's worth from The Sims 3.

Master of Orion 2 is a fun turn based strategy game that should run well on any computer these days.

Be warned, it's a time thief, you'll think you've been playing for an hour when it's actually more like 4 or 5 hours.

Just wondering, I am thinking of buying battlefield 3 for the pc because it's looking really sharp at the moment.
The only problem is that I've got a Toshiba laptop which I had bought in 2009/10 (and not even a gaming laptop) and I don't have a clue what requirements I'll need to run the game smoothly. Any suggestions?
