I've been kind of taking my time with Rin's story. Well, to be honest, I've had other things occupying my time lately. I'm partway into act 3, and though I haven't made any choices in that act yet, I can say, without spoiling too much, that Rin is definitely a lot trickier than Emi. It's funny, because I somehow find her easier to understand than the other characters in the visual novel do. Maybe it's because I have AS. I tend to drift off into my own separate world, and am often deep in thought, even though I wish my mind would slow down for a bit. Rin seems to have a more extreme case of that, to the point where she's completely detached from everything else at times. On the other hand, in act 2, I had a tough time making the right choices with Rin, and am prepared for things to go wrong in act 3. I'm not using a faq, and refuse to do so on my first playthrough of each route, and I guess I wouldn't mind messing up, because I can always go back and do it again. Maybe I should make a backup save just in case.

The good thing about Rin's is that her bad ending is more of a cut off whilst her good ending continues after that bad ending ends.

I see. I haven't quite finished it, but I think I'm down to the last few minutes. Maybe I was on the right path afterall. It did seem like things were over, twice. Big time. But, to say they made up would be an understatement. Unfortunately, I had to go somewhere, so I didn't have time for the scene after, where they decide to go somewhere(I think I know where). I'll finish it tomorrow.

It is weird.

You know what I thought when the scene happens?

I went "WHAT HAPPENED TO HER ARMS!?!" as I forgot she had no arms up until that point.

Well, she does manage to get by surprisingly well without arms. Plus, KS tends to put more emphasis on what's on the inside, than what's on the outside. In Rin's story, the focus was on trying to understand what goes on in her mind, as opposed to being about coping without arms, which I think is great. It would be easy to dwell heavily on a character's physical disability and how they cope with that. Instead, it's about struggles the characters have within themselves.

I liked the ending of Rin's story, and I decided to go for Hanako's route this time. More on that later, as I get more into it. Lilly and Hanako's routes are a lot closer in act 1 than Emi and Rin's. It started off as one route, requiring a series of correct responses with both characters, before offering as close to a blatant "Lilly or Hanako?" choice as possible. I'm definitely going for Lilly next.

I liked the story enough to make me forget Rin was limbless.

It's not that obvious with Lilly or Hanako but the questions are similar when you make the choice, especially the "Is Hanako cute" question, that leads you towards Lilly more despite being given a chance to go down Emi's route as well.

Well, I did manage to end up on Hanako's route. I have to say, her intro cutscene is the most interesting out of the three I've seen so far. While I think they're all appropriate for the storyline, and the character they're focused on, Hanako's is definitely the most abstract. Of course it's centered around what she sees when she's around a crowd of people. As a result, it's actually the most focused on a character's psyche than the others I've seen. Even Rin's wasn't nearly as abstract, and that's saying a lot.

Hanako does have some similarities to Rin. For one thing, she's not the most social girl at Yamaku. She tends to isolate herself from the rest of the world, and as a result, is mysterious, and there's the desire to get to know her. Obviously her circumstances are different, and her way of dealing with everything is different. She has different interests, and tends to approach other people differently. I'm sure her story will be just as interesting as the last two I made my way through.

Yeah, it's a very interesting take for her.

I think she may have got it as well, despite what happened to her...of course it would effect anyone who has been scarred, but we are very vulnerable to such trauma, and it does make us close up even more!

I have some traits of Hanako, as you will find out what she does when she walks later on.

It's interesting, but when it comes to "that" scene, it is very awkward.

I haven't gotten to the scene you mentioned yet, but I have made it to the third act. Hanako's act 2 was actually considerably shorter than the others I've seen. Then again, it accomplished what it set out to do, and act 3 tends to be when the story really picks up, so it's not a big deal. Besides, it ended on a high note. Well, if you can call that last scene a high note. Hanako's story is tragic, and I think it's her theme music that really sets the tone for that scene. I've played a little bit of act 3, but nothing has really happened yet.

You technically don't get "close" to her until near the very end of the game, but you will know when that will happen.

There's also a choice in Act 3 (or 4) which pretty much gives you the bad (not worse) or good ending, and it's pretty easy to know what it is too, as you've been given the option in Lilly's route.

I'm not surprised that it takes longer to get closer to her than it does with the other girls, especially after what happened during group work in class. It looked like she was making significant progress, but it's clear that she still has a ways to go before she's willing to open up to Hisao, as well as gather the courage to step even more outside her comfort zone. I noticed that even though her act 2 is shorter, her act 3 is longer, which is great. Act 2 tends to just set the stage, to make way for more plot and character development in act 3, so the less time it takes for the former, the more time that can be spent on the latter. All in all, I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of Hanako's story plays out.
