Hmm, i see it more as a tribute.

Both Earthbound and Mother 3 seem to have quite a few. I could be wrong but I heard it's part of why Mother 3 wasn't released outside Japan?

Not only tose but a lot of others remind me of songs from the Beatles, maybe a few from the Doors. I have not played the much myself, only saw LPs of them, so I don't remember too many specific songs.

Interesting. Yes, Mother 3 wasn't released outside of Japan due to some of it's music resembling a few real songs too much IIRC.

I have played lots of Streets of Rage 2 but I never noticed this music resembled anything. What song does it resemble?

I misread your original post. I would love to hear another song like that, though.

I always have a hard time playing Super Mario Sunshine and not humming the Motel 6 theme song while I'm in Delphino Plaza:

Except for the ones that are just a cooincidence, a parody, or, like the Batman theme, just a generic 12-bar riff, the classical music ones are all public domain and free to use. I always thought it was funny though that in the first two games, the New Age Retro Hippy's theme was clearly a Chuck Berry ripoff.

Ah, i see what you meant with your post. It does sound like it could be a real song. I also agree that there should be more music like this, i love it.

Actually as far as I remember anyway, the main reasons Mother 3 didn't make it out of Japan, was that it was released so late into the GBA's life (And 2 years into the DS' iirc) that it would've been almost pointless to translate, which would've added a good year or two on as well

The only time I was messing with the source to a video game, I found it played midi files. I was able to swap it out with the midi to
Caverns of the Heart by Fred Nachbaur. Sadly, Mr. Nachbaur passed away in 2005.
