Hmm.. I guess these would have to be my top three:

1.) The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. (Ehh, well, a series can count as a game, right? :P)

2.) Mother 3.

3.) A tie between Pokemon X/Y and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

As of right now,

1 ) Skyrim

Why? Open world, immersive gameplay with many quests. Also has numerous skills one can learn and since you can only max out about three skill trees with skill points per character the game has endless replayability. I have played the game three times now with different character setups and it never gets old.

2 ) Silent Hill 2

Why? Best story line video games have ever seen, multiple endings offers some replayability. Its a horror game that is actually scary and has depth that many games lack.

3 ) Doom

Why? Its a classic shooter and it doesn't have an arrow telling you were to go or regenerating health, need I say more?

1) EarthBound

2) Xenoblade Chronicles

3) The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past

Seriously, EarthBound is the greatest game ever made, with the greatest soundtrack ever to boot!

This was a tough pick. They're all tied for me, really, but I'll list them in order of nostalgic value

1) Megaman Legends 1/2
Such a great action-adventure game. Such fun characters, charm and action packed into a neat package. Not too short of a game, not too long.

2) Final Fantasy VII
They should make an anime out of this finally, so non-RPG fans can get a taste of it's amazing story and sountrack.

3) Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask (I prefer MM, but some prefer OoT.)
I've played this many times over my life-time. For what should be obvious reasons.

Easiest question ever. I'm not even going to bother with a top 3, as *this* game easily takes all three spots:

Image

This game is - hands down - the most brilliant game - nay, the most brilliant type of any entertainment - that the world has even seen, and will ever see.

GameSpot actually did a highly detailed video review of the game, demonstrating what a Herculean feat of software engineering it must have been to produce such a game. Highly recommended:

Angry VIdeo Game Nerd just did a video about Big Rigs, coincidentally.

My three favorite games that I can come up with off the top of my head would have to be (in no specific order):

Halo 3

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Dota 2

I mainly chose those three games because they are pretty representative of the majority of the types of games that I enjoy a lot, but in different ways, and in that same vein, honorable mentions go to Hotline Miami and Kerbal Space Program.

Final Fantasy XI ...before the americanization of the game (game mechanics changed from rpg team-based to endless spam of power attacks solo).

Not in any order:

-Tetris (played on many platforms, including DOS, Windows, Game Boy, GBC, NES, and even TI graphing calculators - high school lunch period was made a little bit more bearable when I could play Tetris on my old TI-86 and not be bothered by others)
-Doom (original PC version, including Doom 2) - I spent many hours not only playing the game (not to mention Deathmatches), but also making my own levels. Not only that, but you could also download levels created by others from a newfangled thing called the World Wide Web. A lot of levels had "custom" sounds and music, more often than not based on Beavis and Butthead and heavy metal or rock songs of the era (NIN, Nirvana). One of the more memorable levels was based on a shopping mall and had YMCA as the background music.
-RollerCoaster Tycoon (original series with expansions) - Paired with the trainers and the "Drexler patch" (which disabled artificial restrictions), I pushed the limits of that game, and created many large and impressive parks, sometimes based on real parks (though other people did better than I did when it came to "real" parks). I also created my own map editor and had a RCT web page that lasted over a decade until I had to take it down because spammers kept hacking into it

Honorable Mentions:
-Chris Sawyer's Locomotion (think of it as Transport Tycoon on the RCT engine)
-SimCity 4 (and SimCity 2000)
-The Sims (original series)

Top THREE? Only three? Ugh.

Allright.... though this list shifts a bit from time to time, but the top 10-15 remain in their group even if they randomly shift positions based on my memory & mood at the time.

#1: Minecraft (PC). This doesnt leave it's top position. Easily my favorite and I've put countless hours into it. No matter how much I play it, there's always more to do. More to build, more to dig, more monsters to fight, more adventures to be had.... particularly when mods are involved (at which point the amount of content available can get a little silly, particularly with the big modpacks), but I play vanilla too.

#2: Baroque (PS2, Wii). An action roguelike, in 3D (not 2D like many are), with a third-person view. A huge game with lots of content, and a very mean learning curve. An absolutely spectacular game, and one that I've put a few hundred hours into.... yet even I have not completed 100% of everything. Has a wonderful dark, freaky aesthetic to the graphics/art, and creative and messed up monster designs.

#3: Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu (360, JP import). I love shmups, particularly danmaku types, and Cave makes the best of them as far as I'm concerned. To me, this game is the best out of the ones they've made, particularly the 360 versions. There are two versions of these, normal and Black Label, and when put together they add up to ALOT of different modes and such. A brilliant game to start with, all these additional modes just make it even better.
