My opinion is that IGN and Gamespot don't believe that Isolation is the sort of thing that most gamers would be interested in, you are powerless and a lot of appeal is of fans of a1979 film. I have played some, but being the coward I am I can only play little bits before having to stop, there is some good build up of tension and the aged sci-fi idea is immersive. The few times so far an actual threat jumped at me was pretty masterful, I was in a position where I freaked out, followed by thinking I was maybe safe, followed by just getting pounced, yet probably my fault. It works for me, but I can see how it might be seen as not for everyone.
Something I am really interested in for review scores was Bayonetta 2. You would think that the kind of controversial image would mean low scores would be given to make it look like they are above that, but most reviews have been pretty positive.

I'm sorry. I just don't like how the way they talk to me like that. It's so offensive to me.
Eh? You didnt do anything wrong.
The bit that got removed wasnt related to you, if that's what you meant. Someone else made a comment directed at me that... wasnt very nice, and I got irritated and snapped at him (and it's typically REALLY easy to tell when I get angry). Unfortunately I get aggravated a tad easily.
Or are you talking about something else here and I'm just reading your comment wrong? I do that, sometimes...
It's repetitive, and kind of forces you to 'go loud' every time, in that it's almost impossible to actually "assassinate" any of your targets, it's usually more chasing them around with a sword till you get the opportunity to pounce on them. It was cool for the time, the crowds and the environment had never really been done that way before, but the repetitive nature of the missions and side missions really dragged it down, climbing towers and following people was only interesting so many times. Ubisoft seems to have a serious problem with this, I had similar problems with FarCry 2 and Watchdogs, the later being particularly disappointing to me.
You should totally get AC 4 though, it's an awesome game just on it's own, the seafaring action is excellent, naval battles are tons of fun, and the clunkier AC elements don't intrude too much. Once you get your ship fully upgrades, ambushing huge convoys of galleons and blasting them with broadsides and mortar fire never gets old, though I did eventually just start sinking ships when salvaging their material became less important, and I'd filled out my own merchant fleet.

I agree with the topic creator. I used to think that video games were about having fun, but the gaming community has turned them into serious business. All anybody seems to do nowadays is complain about video games and spread the hatred and trolling. That's why I never play games online and I've quit keeping up with the chit chat and reviews about games. I'm a solitary gamer now who prefers playing video games alone and I say screw the people on the internet who try to tell me that the games I personally enjoy suck.
Definitely, I think social gaming is a serious issue, in that so many people rely on online play or social networking for their social interaction that nobody is playing local multiplayer anymore. We still get so much use out of our N64 because unless you can hook a computer up to your tv and have 4 decent usb controllers, you're f****d if you want to entertain a group of gamers. But seriously, there's some real modern gems available now that just get completely glossed over by the public, I would love for public arcades that play stuff like Sportsfriends, Samurai Gunn or even Divekick, simple intuitive experiences with a decent skill ceiling just to spur the idea to people who wouldn't usually be interested.
Next is that so many people have felt the need to crap on the Xbox One, for no real reason, it has gotten to the point that many of them so badly want it to fail that they jump at every opportunity to say there is something wrong with it. Followed by hate against Nintendo, where many just go against it for not conforming, highly ironic with all the complaints about nothing changing. It goes back to what someone said above about people just ignoring fun factor.
Another horrid thing is the way that "true gamers" have acted recently, and by that I mean people who are likely guys, who want to exclude others from calling themselves gamers, either get upset or pretty much ignore any really problems of gender inequality, and pretty much attack anyone who raises a point against them. They have used horrid language and have threatened women who they have seen as the enemy, and have felt the need to try and insult anyone who tries to defend people or use reason as SJW (Social Justice Warriors). But this whole issue is supposedly recently be about journalist corruption, where they have felt the need to attack all game journalists that have the slightest connection to game developers, and surprised that different journalists would decide together when to do certain stories. And then no surprise certain journalists got upset and wrote angry articles saying that the community was bad, which was followed by the elitists getting more upset that they were attacked despite the fact they did it first.
Oh yes, the PC Master Race who look down on the dirty console peasants. Even if PC's are better at gaming that doesn't mean they will stay that way. Games will improve, and need better video graphic cards to run on. Which means that the PC " Master Race " will need to change his computer, and that costs money. Just the graphic card alone will cost hundreds of dollars. As technology improves, which it will other things will need to be replaced. It is a never ending cycle that will cost more and more money, yet PC gamers don't seem to mind. Maybe that's just me though.

It doesnt happen even close to as often as you might think. I built mine for gaming awhile ago, and.... ah, I'm still running everything, including new games, on max settings without any trouble at all. In order to be upgrading frequently, you have to pretty much start with an absolute hunk of junk, AKA, a machine that's very definitely not meant for gaming (typically someone running games on a "business" PC will experience this) in order to need to upgrade that frequently. Hell, I cant remember the last time I bought a video card.... or anything that wasnt a mouse.
Though what always gets me is that everyone thinks that you HAVE to upgrade. If you dont do it, you're doing it WRONG, and you suck, and blah blah blah, because graphics, and BLAH. And no, you dont. It doesnt HAVE to be bloody perfect. In the vast majority of cases, you dont NEED an upgrade to run such-and-such new game. You might need to tone the settings down, but you can run it. But nooooooo, the ones obsessed with that crap will happily fling $300 at a new card for it, and then proceed to brag about it. As if it's an accomplishment.
What gives the "master race" sort a kick though isnt any of that; it's the fact that PCs can be upgraded, but consoles have to be outright replaced and cannot change individually. And they'll NEVER SHUT UP ABOUT IT. It's like, yes, I get it, you stuck 5 video cards into your machine for no apparent reason. GOOD FOR YOU. Too bad it accomplishes nothing practical. Bah. I hate when people do that. Just pipe down and play the damn games already, whatever machine you're using.
I've forgotten what I was saying. Not that this fact is a surprise.
To answer the OP bluntly, yes gamers have gotten worse. Gamers killed the rts genre and made MOBAs a thing, a terrible, terrible thing and I will never forgive that. DoTa and LoL to me are evil incarnate and embody almost all of the things I hate about the gaming scene now.
As for pc master, yes I like my pc and being able to play Dark Souls without lagging as much in Blighttown, but the whole argument is overdone and old. A PC is a great thing if you have the money to invest in a decent one. You will get a much bigger bang for your buck and so many games that were once console exlcuse are gaming to steam, but nothing to me can replace the feeling of sitting on the couch in front of the tv or BETTER yet on my bed in the dark with a gameboy. I kind of resent pc gaming because its most of what I do anymore but its so uncomfortable for me anymore, I don't have money for a better chair.
Another problem with pc gaming is that its oversaturated with MMOs and MOBAs right now. Yes, you can get some awesome AAA+ titles but nowadays those come on consoles as well. I'll def. be buying a ps4 for Silent Hills and the new Final Fantasy...and a wii-u for Smash and Zelda.
Also totally random but Gamespot is complete garbage and has been since Greg Kasavin left. Fact.

Hmm, the mobas can be really fun, in all honesty; the problem is that Dota and LoL are both the largest of them, AND the biggest asshat magnets there ever was. They can be fun... but the jerk ratio is just too high with them. For really ENJOYABLE games in that genre, you simply go elsewhere. Smite, Dawngate, Infinite Crisis, Strife... there's a bunch of them, and they only attract as many jerks as your typical online game of any genre does.
Now as for MMOs... you can thank WoW for that. Uncreative publishers look at it, think that it prints money, and think that if THEY copy it, it'll print money for them too! Such bloody wonderful and typical corporate reasoning. It never works, but they WILL keep repeatedly trying it anyway.
But oversaturated? No. Those are just the ones that tend to get advertised the most, and mobas in particular get alot of video coverage and stuff because it's a genre that lends itself very well to the whole e-sports idea. But there's about a bazillion other games on PC that ARENT either of those genres... you just have to look for them. Of the hundreds of games on my own machine, there's about 5 mobas installed, and maybe 2 MMOs.
Yeah, I don't get along with Mobas either, but I think the genre has a lot of potential. Have you tried Awesomenauts? That's more like the kind of Moba I'd like to see, with some action right away as opposed to dancing behind your units and shooting them in the back for 20 minutes. I really like the meta and all that, but really don't have the patience for a whole game of Dota or LoL.
I'm waiting for the Warcraft RTS mod for Dota 2.

Yeah, Dota and LoL, for all of their popularity, are the longest and slowest of all of them. LoL at least tends to have some back-and-forth poking DURING the laning (as opposed to Dota, where you just dance alot but never strike most of the time, because abilities cost 10 zillion MP to use). Smite is alot better for it (and all attacks in that one can be dodged, there's no "guaranteed hit" moves like in Dota). Dawngate uses a different structure entirely and doesnt bother with MP for abilities, and so on. I dont have the undying patience to deal with the unholy boredom that is laning in Dota, and while I like LoL well enough I prefer a bit of a faster paced; so it is up to the rest of the genre to provide those things. Also REALLY dont like Dota's absolute obsession with last-hitting (my most loathed gameplay mechanic in that genre), and LoL does it a bit too.... as opposed to Smite / Dawngate / Infinite Crisis that do minion clobbering SO much better.
Buuuut, even though those games are popular and have large populations of players, they STILL get totally overshadowed by the two juggernauts, which can mean that many that like the ideas of the genre wont even know they exist, because ZOMG DOTA!! !!11
It's a bit... irritating.
Still, I enjoy those other ones, even if it took me awhile to FIND them. Glad I did though.
Awesomenauts I've not played all that much of... I dunno if it's still like this, but the last time I played it, it had.... matchmaking issues. Where it had this tendancy to drop you into matches that were already in progress, which is rather a no-no in this genre. That got irritating WAY too fast. Which is too bad; it's an interesting concept, and the overall pacing is right around where the other "lesser" mobas are, so I dont get bored with it easily.
Hm, I'd rather forgotten it existed. I might go give it another go and see if it's improved, as it's been quite awhile.
Yes, it's famously bad for this and because of it, I haven't played in a while. The online community was trash, but I'm guessing it might have improved recently since they've added custom games and a server browser. You know, it means you can avoid dicks and only join games before they've started, which is good.
I'd like to see a MOBA game play like Smash Brothers, that would be cool but I guess online multiplayer might be a bit of a problem...
MOBAs just aren't my cup of tea, I guess. I shouldn't have dismissed them all as bad. As for WoW, I played it for over 10 years but quit recently when I realized (A) I wasn't having fun anymore. (B) I was playing because I felt I HAD to due to monthly subscription running (C). I'm low on money and would rather put my monthly WoW toward other games I can actually enjoy.
Like I'm playing Dark Souls again on steam and having 100X more fun with that than I was waiting in group finder for WoW this patch.
